Sometimes I wake up several times a night with very strong erections. I think it has to do with what I eat, but I'm not 100% sure . I'm already sure about red meat (and minced meat), even if I ejeculated that day I still get erections at night. Chocolate is a killer. And I gave up caffeine too. This week I had one day where I only ate vegetables and fruit, that night I had no erections at all. I will continue to experiment with foods to find out. In the mean time I would like to know if anyone has experience in this area that could help me. Thanks in advance. Last edited by Vantage72; 08-14-2009 at 07:29 PM. |

I believe that there are foods that cause erections. I remember I went on a specific diet once and I did not get any erections, sexual thoughts, desires, etc., for the entire time that I was one that diet. I would, however, occasionally get night-time erections/wet dreams. There was a time though where I would not get anything at all--ever. I have yet to still go on an all-dark green vegetable diet, with water of course, to see what happens. Water-only fasts are the most taxing and strenuous out of all the fasts that there are, with the exception of a full-fast, which is nothing at all. Vegetable-only fasts are the second-most strenuous fasts, which are second from the water-only fast. From there, it goes like this: Fruit and vegetable-only fasts, fruit-only fasts, and then just a regular healthy diet. On the fruit-only fasts it depends what kind of fruits one eats though, as some fruits are healthier than others; vegetable-only fasts are likewise, although a lot of vegetables are extremely healthy. The strength that one has on the water-only fast cannot be matched by any other fast though, with maybe the exception of a full-fast, which is why the water-only fast is the most effective and most powerful fast that there is. I have not gone on many water-only fasts though; the longest one I ever went on only lasted about a week; I only stopped because I was getting too thin/light. I have yet to go on a forty day water-only fast though, which is one of my goals. I also have an extremely fast metabolism, which is why I cannot fast as long as someone that has a slower metabolism. Thanks for the feedback andrew112 Quote:
The fact that I don't get these erections when I only eat fruit and vegetables proves that there is a connection between food and the erections, in my opinion. Thanks for your response.

| It sort of does. It suggests that it might be because your bladder is full. Try not drinking so much the night before. Also, getting an erection is a good thing, there are so many men out there that want to get them but can't.

Night time erections are completely normal for men. Food doesn't add/remove them. If you noticed a big drop in them when on a new diet, blame the stress of such a sudden change in diet. Emotional/physical stress are big factors in male function. |

How old are you? free testosterone plays an important part in spontaneous erections and some foods do influence both the production and the amount that is "free", however, it is not usually an immediate response, at least not from un-concentrated normal levels of things in food. There could be an amino acid connection or possibly nitric oxide levels. It could also be a secondary link connected to rem sleep and dreaming which could be allowing more erotic dreams and the resultant "woodies" I have heard that carrot juice in particular will lower sex drive but I don't know if it is accurate info.

| Maybe I did not explain very well. Read below please. Quote:
If I don't eat red meat it will only be two or three times for 10 minutes or so. If I eat dark chocolate I get wet dreams. If I don't eat dark chocolate I don't get wet dreams I am inclined to believe there is a connection. Quote:

Why are you asking us what foods cause erections, then, if you already know it's red meat? I don't understand. If you are getting over powerful erections at night when you eat meat, and not eating meat stops that, then, well, stop eating meat.

I'm asking if anyone has similar experience with other foods. I am already sure about red meat and cacao. I'm not sure about fish, cheese and chicken for example. And I'm also not sure about quantities. I will continue to experiment and keep track of it, I'm just curious if anyone noticed the same.

it's funny because red meat is usually supposed to decrease sexual function and erections... Chocolate, well that's an obvious one. I don't think anyone doesn't know the connection between chocolate and sexuality. Try masturbating more? Your dreams are way to sexual because you are lacking that in life. Your night time emitions are for the same reason. The last time I had a wet dream was when i was 15. |

I can definitely see the chocolate connection, and personally I've never noticed a connection with red meat or certain foods, but I wake up at full attention quite often in the morning. The only time I do not get them is when I have sex or masturbate multiple times in the same evening. I think maybe some people are just more sexual than others and need that extra satisfaction. I know for a fact that if I don't masturbate or have sex for more than a couple days, I'll get woodies all the time. In the car, at school, at work, where ever. One possibility about the red meat connection, could be that it contains hormones which trigger erotic dreams. If I were you I'd try it with chicken and see if you get a similar response.

I thought these night time erections were an easy fix as well. Without talking to anyone about it i instinctively cut out caffeine, alcohol and sweets without any success. I even tried exercising and (the obvious) before going to sleep. I finally went to a urologist who has been prescribing me the kitchen sink of muscle relaxers and pain relievers, but it is relentless. The medication seems to work at first, but the erections are relentless. I even tried ice packs but after an hour or two, there was no contest. Dreams have absolutely nothing to do with it. This is the ultimate torture because of not only the pain, but the sleep deprivation. As soon as I get into rem, it starts and will not end until I wake up. I've suffered with this for over ten years so any advice would be appreciated.

Cholesterol and fat increases testosterone which increases erections. Some cholesterol goes through a process, cholesterol to something to estradiol to estrogen and some goes cholesterol to ? to androstenedione to androstenediol to testosterone. This is why the fastest way to put on muscle is to eat lots of red meat and dairy along with high carbs. Although this way can cause more fat gain and raise ch levels depending on what else you eat. I go with the 2nd best way, lean meats, and not much dairy. 3rd best is relying on soy/plant proteins that are lower on the BV scale and getting much smaller amounts of fats and cholesterol.
