Default Swine Flu

The deadly Swine Flu has reached the global outbreak. However, Swine Flu is certainly one of those diseases where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Here are ten tips for you to keep away from the pandemic.

1. Wash your hands frequently
Use the antibacterial soaps to cleanse your hands. Wash them often, at least 15 seconds and rinse with running water.

2. Get enough sleep
Try to get 8 hours of good sleep every night to keep your immune system in top flu-fighting shape.

3. Drink sufficient water
Drink 8 to10 glasses of water each day to flush toxins from your system and maintain good moisture and mucous production in your sinuses.

4. Boost your immune system
Keeping your body strong, nourished, and ready to fight infection is important in flu prevention. So stick with whole grains, colorful vegetables, and vitamin-rich fruits.

5. Keep informed
The (your) government takes necessary steps to prevent the pandemic and periodically releases guidelines to keep the pandemic away. Please make sure to keep up to date on the information and act in a calm manner.

6. Avoid alcohol
Apart from being a mood depressant, alcohol is an immune suppressant that can actually decrease your resistance to viral infections like swine flu. So stay away from alcoholic drinks so that your immune system may be strong.

7. Be physically active
Moderate exercise can support the immune system by increasing circulation and oxygenating the body. For example brisk walking for 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week will significantly perk up your immunity.

8. Keep away from sick people
Flu virus spreads when particles dispersed into the air through a cough or sneeze reach someone else's nose. So if you have to be around someone who is sick, try to stay a few feet away from them and especially, avoid physical contact.

9. Know when to get help
Consult your doctor if you have a cough and fever and follow their instructions, including taking medicine as prescribed.

10. Avoid crowded areas
Try to avoid unnecessary trips outside.

Stay Healthy!

Good advice, but it's not exactly deadly. But still, much better than what came with the school newspaper which said pretty much keep at least 1 metre away from sick people and wash your hands before touching your face.

at least 5 doctors and numerace pharmacists have told me normal flu kills far more people, and aspirin kills even more. I had it, and have never felt so bad in my life. But as the doc said to me, most healthy people will recover in 5 days plus. its the elderly, the very young and people with supressed immune

it is the media making a super big deal. Normal flu has killed much more people

36,000 people a year die from the NORMAL flu. Only 600 people have died from this flu. Why are you guys worried about this flu?

Actually it is better to drink white or green tea instead of water. What is the difference between a $400 computer and a $1,400 computer. The latter has everything that the former does but much more.

So tea is almost all water so it has all the benefits of water but contains 4,000 chemical compounds. Tea strengthens the immune system and helps overweight people to lose weight. Note-- a side effect is that it prevents cancer.

Also do not take drugs. They weaken your immune system. So avoid heroin, cocaine, Vioxx and vaccines. Also being afraid weakens your immune system. The news is trying to scare you to death. About the anti-bacterial soap. There is a theory that goes around that anti-bacterial soap may lead to more resistent bacteria, which at some point in the future may be dangerous to all of us. In addition, plain old soap and water are more or less just as effective. So I would stay away from the anti-bacterial stuff.

Even though anti-bacterial things have no effect on a virus, Many MDs have given them for a virus.

Antibacterial soaps aren't necessary. Regular soap kills bacteria and viruses. Antibacterial soaps are definitely the cause of some of the most deadly, drug-resistant strains we've ever seen. It's a major problem. But has little to do with the flu.

H1N1 versions of the flu, historically, kills young healthy people more than the elderly, kids and anything can kill immuno-compromised people. That was one of the most alarming aspects of the flu of 1918 which killed millions. There were so many young, healthy people dying. So don't feel that if you aren't old or a kid that you are somehow immune. Everyone should take precautions.

But the current strain of H1N1 is virulent but not remarkably deadly. It spreads fast but isn't killing too many people. The best part is those who've been infected will have some immunity to it's variants if it decides to mutate. Those who haven't gotten it may be in bigger trouble if/when it mutates to a deadlier form.

And they are also responsible, directly, for the existance of some of the most deadly bacteria that now exist. Just because they are MDs doesn't mean they don't cave into the whining mom asking for an anti-biotic "just in case." If you have ever known anyone with MRSA or VRSA, or anyone who has died from those heinous illnesses, you can thank an ignorant mom and a weak-willed MD.
