I started getting up at 6:30 AM to exercise a few weeks ago. It was a bit hard at first, but it has become a habit. In my personal experience, it has one minor advantage: you start you day having already accomplished something (your workout). I find it easier to make up excuses in the afternoon and miss workouts. If you are trying to gain weight, check my post on this thread. You might find something useful. Also, ginkgo is right. You need to rest to get the best results our of exercise. That part I'm still struggling with: going to bed before midnight... |

You have plenty of time, but you just have not made good use of it. Pick what is most important in your life, and make time for that, and take the time away from those things which are not. Do you watch tv? Do you talk on the phone for hours? Do you talk on here for hours? People are to afraid to see the truth, so they never even look. Most people would love to just sit there and talk on the phone or watch tv or what ever, and doing anything that threatens that is a big no no... The sheer thought of doing something to threaten that usually turns on the fear reactions in a person. So yeah, really look deep into the things you do all day, and THEN come back here and tell us you don't have time ( for your health of all things...). |

It is safer to train in the evening, since your back will be dehydrated more than when you wake up. This is important, since a hydrated back (having lots of fluid between your vertebrae) increases risk of injury. And focus on quality instead of quantity. Its great that you want to dedicate yourself to it, but don't go 5-7 days a week. 3-4 days a week is more than enough, certainly if you plan your training well. Too much of a good thing is bad If you're skinny, start eating a lot and exercise 3 times a week. Do big movements, like the deadlift, overhead press and the squat. Start light, progress on to heavier weights in time, and see your body grow. |

I love going to the gym in the morning because it boosts my energy. If I don't go first thing, "going to the gym" is in the back of my mind all day and I find I'm less productive. It's a habit you may need to condition into yourself, but it's a good one. |

It's great to workout early, I find I get less DOMS when i work out in the morning and that I can "go harder" too. | |

i also go to the gym in the morning when my work schedule allows it. This week for example i went from 7am-8:30 am, and it felt great. However, sure to not push it like crazy, because you will be tired then for a few hours after the workout |
