Well I did it. I spend a month totally clean of all drugs. And it felt great. The main drugs I used regularly were alcohol and caffeine. I was a habitual drinker of both beer and coffee. It really was an amazing experience. I was completely clearheaded, all the time. I didn't realize how much of my energy caffeine was taking from me, and how much casual alcohol use was costing me in terms of time and freedom (and money!) People warned me that peer pressure from my friends was going to be the toughest part to deal with, but it really turned out to not be an issue at all. There were lots of surprises, actually. Here's my full report: Beer and Coffee: My Problem Children, Put to Bed at Last As you can see, there were benefits I never anticipated. I would definitely recommend doing this to anyone. I've completely reframed the role of drugs in my life. Curiously, it was one of the fastest months I can remember. |

Way to go! Keep it up. I did a similar thing 3 maybe 4 years ago. I was a huge tea drinker, 8 to 10 large mugs a day, a morning coffee to get me going. As well as coke for that lift during the day or on occasion a high caffiene energy drink. Was never a heavy drinker but was finding I was imbibing that more and more often. I went cold turkey on everything. The first week was the worst, massive headaches but I persevered. There was only one person who had any issue with it, a SIL who kept harping on that tea has antioxidents. I have introduced everything back into my diet - no where near the amount I was drinking before. A days worth of tea back then now works out to be over 2 weeks worth. I found coke pushing it's way back in, so am making sure I have something else with me. And I've had a small beer, 2 wines over the last 4 months. |

Thanks guys. I have tried these drugs again a little bit, but they aren't doing much for me. I did enjoy a cup of coffee I had yesterday, but it was a small one that I drank in the evening while writing. I like the new role beer and coffee are playing. They're just extras, instead of prominent players. |

Congratulations man! That is a big step. Many of us are dependant on drugs, caffeine,tv whatever it is to the point where they take a lot of productivity out of our lives! Many people should do this and take a break from whatever addiction they are having Have a great day! |
