I am pushing the power of going for a walk. I think it keeps you fit, it's fun and it's a great way to spend quality time away from friends and family without distractions. I've come up with seven reasons why you should go for a walk but I'm sure there are many more. Happy walking |

The problem is forcing yourself to do it! It's one of those things you know you should do for the mental and physical benefits but you fail to find the initiative to do every morning you wake up to do it. I think that walking is much better for the mental health than the physical health though to be honest! I can see how it would be a good stepping stone to any path of exercise though, you've gotta start somewhere. |

Yes, getting out there the first time is hard but maybe the good thing is that it's totally accessible to everyone: no special equipment or fancy gear needed and, weather permitting you can do it anywhere, anytime. It has certainly been a great tool for my mental health, so much so that I have been known to walk in the rain because I needed a walk. But I think power walking, swinging your arms, tackling hills and going fast can get your pulse racing, improve your fitness and burn calories too. You just have to go for it. As important as walking is, you're right, it doesn't need two threads! Is there a duplicate? Maybe someone can delete the other one? Have a lovely walk |

I agree! Walking is a great exercise. An added plus is that being outside gives you the sun you need in order to convert Vit D. It can also be a useful exercise. Get your significant other to walk with you 30 mins a day and use the time to chat and spend some together time. Bring along your dog, and he gets his exercise for the day. |

Yes, it's free, you can do it anywhere, it's fun, sociable and you can have a good nose round your neighbourhood. It's amazing how much you notice when you're walking that you'd never spot in the car!
