Hey everyone, I have had pretty bad allergies and live in a big city, so it's no surprise that I developed chronic sinusitis. I have constant headaches and struggle to breath clearly through my nose. Smelling has become a distant memory haha. I was wondering if anyone else who is afflicted, what remedies you use.

first step is a neti pot and aim for twice a day usage. That will help enormously. Several years ago i bought a book called "Sinus Survival" by David Iker D.O. His suggestions are comprehensive. Here is a brief list: Sleep, negative ion air cleaner, room humidifier, saline nasal spray (3xs daily), steam inhaler, Neti pot, drink water, increase fresh fruits, decrease sugar, dairy and caffeine, and aerobic exercise. Good luck - let us know how it goes. |

I currently use a neti pot after every time I shower so I get a good cleansing. I also drink alot of tea and breathe the vapors in while it's cooling. Dairy is kept at a minimum. I think if I kept up solid sleep it would help a lot. Stress is also a huge factor I'm beginning to see. When I focus on relaxing my sinuses I get almost immediate relief, so I can see how the hypnosis helped you Angela. My sinuses seem to be the worst when I wake up. It's as if cement slowly filled my sinus cavities and I wake up with shallow mouth breathing. Then as the day progresses and I drink fluids it clears up. I'm thinking a humidifier would help for the night time congestion. |

Hi Nexus It has been proven that an undiagnosed gluten intolerance causes chronic sinusitis. You could try going gluten free for a few weeks to see if your symptoms improve. Gluten intolerance is also linked to dozens of other ailments. Good luck. |

I got chronic sinusitis after catching a respiratory virus. This same virus seems to have kicked off receding gums (periodontal disease) in my mouth, skin problems, fatigue, memory difficulties, and many others. See here for more info: Chronic Sore Throat / Mood Virus — an Emerging New Virus? |
