| Alternative Health Journal - Nutrition - New Report: Many Organic Soy Food Brands Importing Beans From China by CornucopiaInstitute Tremendous growth in the organic soy foods industry has occurred over the last two decades as consumers seek healthy dietary alternative sources of protein. Many companies touting their “natural” or “organic” soy brands have found favor in the supermarket. A new report, released this week by The Cornucopia Institute, lifts the veil on some of these companies, exposing widespread importation of soybeans from China and the use of toxic chemicals to process soy foods labeled as “natural.”We no longer trust these imports to feed our pets: They have no place in organics |

| Soy Soy is just too controversial a food for me to bother with it. My immune system has already rejected it for me. I tested positive to soy allergies. I wouldn't call it the wonder food that everyone else has been brainwashed to believe. Jennifer |

I have had a lot of problems in the past, but chalked it up to eating processed crap like soy dogs and soy ham (two out of three meals). However, I recently starting adding some natto (fermented soybeans) to my diet. I got an organic brand from an Asian grocery store (there were about five or six other brands which weren't organic, and they all contained high fructose corn syrup!). Now I'm wondering if the beans are from China. I don't remember it saying anything about the source of the soy. Unfortunately, I already threw the label with English translation away. |

Why is it the US economy is so protectionist? I mean, they certainly oppose state protectonism of markets outside when it comes to their exports. But the minute they hear something is coming from China it is worse than the buggieman...

It's not the protectionist aspect of the economy we are worried about it's that China has proven in the last few years that they cannot be trusted with the food supply and that no matter what they say they are doing, we have no way of proving they are actually conforming to ANY standards, let alone organic. When I pay a premium for organic food, it dammn well better conform to the organic standards of MY country if it is sold here. Jennifer |
