Default 30 days challenge: no smoking

Actually hope it's more than 30 days.
Day 1: Hard. Got through it. Sleeping helps
Day 2: Hard. Got through it. Doing stuff where you would usually smoke is hard. I change my daily routine to trick my body.
Day 3: Feeling better. A bit easier.

To be continued.

Best of luck. Getting un-addicted to this drug is very difficult. If you do it, it will probably be the hardest thing that you have ever done. With all the additives they add to it, it is extremely addictive.

thank you.

Actually I went for 1 year and a half without smoking before.

The difficult part is not stopping for a while a think.

It's never smoking ever again. But you have to start somewhere so...

Many cannot stop for even a few days but it sounds like you have an addictive personality. You need to change yourself mentally to help with that like by doing yoga or meditaion. Also even doing Sudoku can help. It is addicitve but is good for your brain (exercise). The CO in cigarette smoke numbs the brain helping you deal with stress. So find other ways to deal with stress. See this site for help with that-- Enlightenment and Happiness.

I am doing 1 hour meditation a day. Been doing that for one year.

That and training definitely help still the mind.

Day 4. The barrier. I've read that it's roughly the time your body needs to purge itself of the nicotine.
True that it gets easier.

The tough ppart now is managing the occasional urge to light one.

It's a good idea to try and pick up a new hobby when you're quitting smoking. Something that keeps your mind occupied without being too challenging and stressful. Perhaps something creative like painting?

My mom is doing it too right now and she's quite successful.

Day 4: The Anger

The rain. Getting lost. The rain again. Not finding a store. All this triggers the anger.

And even though you know where it comes from, you can't quell it.

Finally resolved to grab a book and stay in bed.

Yes I agree. Replace it with a good habit. Whenever I get home I always put my keys in the same place-- good habit. I never lose them. A woman that I know gets home and puts them anywhere. Then a big search ensues to find them when it is time to leave.

If it only takes 3 days then how come all these people are using these nicotine patches and gums? They can't go 3 days without it? I am not saying that you are wrong, but can you tell me your source of this statistic.

For example if I say that 2+2=5, even though most people wrongly think it is 2+2=4, wouldn't you like to know my source? Wouldn't it be careless to state this and not give you the source so that this is what you think from now one since you saw it on a forum.

This is for everyone. Give a source. The source of 2+2=5 is Wikipedia.

Gingko, it is a fact: after 48-72 hours, the nicotine is purged.

However it isn't true that after that it's psychological. Your brain still expects it's dose of nicotine. Gums take care of that. In fact patches AND gums is better: patches for the long run, a gum every so often to replicate the nicotine boost of a cigarette.
