Here's what I do. BTW I was let in on this little healing secret by my nail tech. When I sense the first signs of a flu, cold, sore throat, allergy or any of those irritating illnesses coming on, (the very first signs!) I crush a garlic clove. Then I just swallow it down with orange juice (she uses water but I can't stand it, have to use juice). I do this twice a day. And.......The illness never shows up!! Actually I literally feel relief in 1 day. Now I gotta warn you not to do this on an empty stomach. Garlic is very strong and can have an immediate reaction (some bad stomach discomfort and nausea) if eaten on an empty stomach. Of course this is something you could do even when no illness is in sight that way you are always immunized. Disclaimer: This is simply anecdotal evidence based on my own results, it may not work for everyone. This is for those who don't have a medicine cabinet. in health circles, this is probably not such a secret--Garlic is a known anti-Cancer agent as well as powerfully anti-viral and anti-bacterial. Then again, maybe we should keep this low key; If enough people started garlic, The FDA would make it a controlled substance like they do with everything else that's natural and actually enhances health. |

I love eating raw garlic. Be careful of the bad breath afterwards I had organic greens from our garden today and it tastes like Wasabi! I swear it must be the enzymes. The food is alive!! |

I eat garlic almost everyday, usually in the form of a tomato and garlic sauce that I pour onto pasta. I don't think I've been ill once so far this year, whereas I used to be ill once a month before I added garlic to my diet. I believe it thins the blood too. |

| Yup....anything is possible with drug companies and big corporations controlling the FDA. If the big cos think they can mine gold from it, they'll get the FDA to make it unavailable to everyone else.

I love raw garlic. It keeps me from getting mosquito bites when they use to bite me more than anyone else. Aged garlic is the healthiest form and the best way for it to be odor-free. Think only one company sells it though.

Even whole wheat is still wheat. Not a great grain. I use garlic supplements along with calcium, folic acid, magnesium and Omega 3's and Vit C for blood pressure control. My MD think's I am still using Lisinopril. I haven't used it in two years. Jennifer |

| When it comes to grains like buckwheat, rye, brown rice, millet, quinua, spelt, barley and amaranth, wheat is the very worst grain there is. But whole wheat is still much healthier than [refined] wheat. Since you are studying medicine, you will like this. Webmd.com gets a million visitors a day. They say that garlic lowers cholesterol! Cholesterol Natural Therapies: Garlic, Red Yeast Rice, and More Note that it says that plant foods, including soybeans as specified by them, (since they contain fiber unlike animal foods) reduce cholesterol also. I love raw garlic but I usually have it chopped in salads. Yesterday someone told me they crush a garlic and have it as if it was a tablet and it works wonders, so it's cool to come across this thread. I was actually wondering if perhaps this could be something we should to do avoid swine flu? |
