Okay, so I am a teenager and I, like most other teenagers find it difficult to wake up early. I won't explore too far the reason with that now, but it's probably just because I've been doing it for a long time. Now, unlike many other people my age I come across, I want to get up earlier. So I've been trying, I can often pull off getting up at 8 or 9, which is okay, but I want to be able to get up between 6-8 every morning. I had a new idea, how about if I just stop myself from turning off the alarm clock in the morning. I'll just leave that annoying, ear piercing beeping noise going until I am fully up out of bed. I am going to experiment with this and I'll post back here if it works at all. Has anyone else tried or been successful with anything like this? or does it sound like a quick fix strategy which I might be able to keep up for a few weeks before I give up? |

| You "want to be able to get up between 6-8 every morning"? Do you believe you are not able to do that now? You may want to start by either installing the belief that you are able, if it's not there already, or changing the story you tell yourself to reflect that of course you are able. Your unconscious mind will respond to the story you tell. Once you've done that, the rest is easy. You can use self-hypnosis to get in great rapport with your unconscious mind (this has benefits that go far beyond just getting up at a certain time.) Commit for 30 days to a nighttime ritual: As you lay in bed just before sleep, imagine a GIANT clock with a happy, goofy face smiling at you. Ask it to set the wake-up for 6am (or whatever), and watch as the wake-up hands move to 6am. Ask for a very nice wake-up (notice I don't use the word "alarm"), maybe a song you like or a short phrase like, "This is an exciting day!" You may even want to ask your unconscious clock to run through its choices for you to pick from. Now, as you visualize it, make it GLOW -- make it seem as real as possible, in a color that you like. Look that clock in the eye and tell it you love it and are grateful to it. "Thank you, unconscious mind, for waking me up every day at 6am!" Then just forget about it and go to sleep. When you wake the next morning at 6, thank your unconscious mind! (If you don't wake up at the specified time, thank your unconscious mind for getting closer and closer to your wake up time, and continue the process for the 30 days.) As you practice doing this, notice what happens to your dreams. When you start getting in rapport with your unconscious mind, interesting stuff starts to happen as your dreams celebrate and play like puppies. You may even start to notice synchronicities in your life -- that's you, getting in rapport with your unconscious. Best wishes! |

Wow that sounds interesting, I might try it but what I'll do is set my alarm for 8:30, but I'll tell myself I want to get up earlier. I do believe I can wake up earlier already, but consistency is a problem.

Well I told my self and had it locked in the brain last night that I wanted to get up at 6, so I pictured 6 on the clock and getting up. However, I got up at 8, which could be due partially to going to bed at about 1:45am. But this worked, though I also decided I'd just sleep in 10 minutes until my alarm went off. That went down fine, then I left the beeping going until I was well out of bed and woken up. I think I'll try stepping it back 15 minutes a day.
