Hia. After reading a discussion here about the harmfulness of dairy I decided to go for a 30-day experiment on cutting it out of my diet. I am on day 13 now. The first week or so I noticed a lot of mucus leaving my body (think I lost at least 8 pounds in that time) but lately I've been feeling a lot less energetic. I'm wondering whether this could be a detox effect. I replaced the milk on my morning cereal with soy milk, the twice-daily yoghurt with a piece of fruit and the cheese on my other food with nothing. It is possible that I am taking in less calories now than before but I wouldn't think it so much as to have this effect on me. For the last week or two I've gotten tired right after noon and stayed that way until at least 18. All day I feel lazy, brain foggy and have trouble concentrating. Has anyone else experienced this when quitting dairy? |

| The biggest mistake that people make is thinking that it is due to a lack of something. But if you see Mighty Sun Tzu's post on a 30 day fast on pure water, then you know that it is not due to a lack of something. Dairy is the most mucus forming food. That is why they say to avoid it during a cold. The homogenized milk has something in it that attacks artery walls. But you are also detoxing antibiotics and hormones. Not that you took, but ones that were given to the cows. The female hormones make the cow give about 10 times the milk they would normally give. I used to drink a lot of milk and had lots of sinus problems. After giving up milk, they went away. Don't worry about others. Adult animals do not drink milk. Drinking milk is a 10,000 year mutation among white people. For the 2,990,000 before that humans never drank milk. Most non-white people cannot digest milk. Cows milk is very different than human's milk. Cow's milk is used to make glue and paint and help the baby cow to weigh 1,000 pounds. Just to show you what I know about milk, the USDA says that goat's milk is the healthiest milk. More people in the world drink goats milk than cow's milk. Now goat's milk is still not healthy for you, but cow's milk is like 5 times worse. To show you how bad it is, if someone only uses organic milk with no drugs in it, that is a big improvement. Then if they get it not homogenized, that is an improvement. Then if they get raw milk, that is an improvement. Then if they get goat's milk, that is a big improvement, but still is not good for health. So it is not goats milk, it is not raw, it is homogenized (the Brown Cow yogurt is not homogenized) and it is full of DRUGS! On the other hand, 5,000 years ago the Chinese learned that the tea plant is tremendous for health and an elixir of life. Then all the elite in China were getting great benefits from drinking it. Now they all drink it and do not drink any water. It is FREE in Chinese restaurants. Now they are doing lots of scientific research on it and discovering all sorts of things about it like it has an amino acid in it not found anywhere else. It causes the caffeine to have a calming effect on you. A side effect of tea is that it prevents cancer, including breast cancer. The female hormones in dairy and meat cause girls to start menstruating at 8 or 9 years old, or even at age 6! The girls in China start menstruating at 16. Note that menstruation is the body saying that the girl is ready to have a baby. Last edited by ginkgo; 06-24-2009 at 04:51 AM. |

I haven't experienced anything like this. Has your diet changed at all, apart from the dairy? Could you be eating more carbs or heavy food for lunch to compensate for what you cut out? Feeling sluggish after lunch usually means that I ate too much heavy cooked food for me - the kind that requires energy to digest. Has anything else changed in your life that could cause fatigue? Work load, stress, hayfever? Also, could it be that you are simply paying more attention to your energy since you started the experiment, and are thus biased in your noticing the fatigue now? Good luck on the rest of your trial. |

I have felt similar effects from having a big lunch before but never for this long. A lunch of heavy, processed food would often result in fatigue around 2-4 but now I'm feeling it from c.a. 1-6. It's also doutbful that I was already this fatigued before and just didn't notice it because sometimes now this will be so bad that I have trouble following a conversation. I'm sure I would have noticed that before :P Thanks for the suggestions | ||

When I went vegan I didn't notice feeling any different after cutting out dairy. When I feel tired, lazy, and foggy it's usually because I'm not drinking enough water. Do you think this could be the case? Also, if you got most of your protein from dairy, maybe you should eat some nuts or beans? Just thinking out loud here as I don't know what the rest of your diet looks like... |

I am detoxing off of dairy as well, it is my 5th day and I have a pretty bad headache and am tired but I think I am past the worst of it. I believe what you are feeling is a reduced numbness in your body, and you are noticing the lethargy-inducing effects of fluoride in your tap water - assuming of course, that your water is fluoridated. Drinking distilled water will remove those feelings of haziness and tiredness, as will nicotine, particularly after showers, and also iodine and calcium supplements.

I actually was off of all dairy for a year while nursing my son (who has a milk allergy), and now I am off dairy again for my daughter. I didn't feel any fatigue from cutting out milk, but I did make sure to take supplements for calcium. I also realized I wasn't getting as much protein as I had been before, since soymilk has less than regular milk and I was no longer eating cheese or yogurt. Maybe you are not getting enough protein, or not eating as much as you had been before (especially considering the 8 lb weight loss) which is causing the fatigue. Hope that helps! -Jaime |
