Ok, my game plan of becoming skinny was thrown off by this breaking news: In Brazil, the ideal look is definitely not skinny! It's a type called a gostosa, which is thick muscular thighs, a big bunda, flat stomach, and small perky breasts. She is one of the most sought after people in Brazil: http://activeclick.com.br/blog/wp-co...1/priorkut.jpg Here's another ideal example: Daniel Piza - Musas? I'm already thick, typical black girl with big booty I know some people would say that it's unrealistic to expect to look like this, as this may be rare in Brazil, but we're not small thinkers here. We're living the best lives possible, we're hard workers, and the sky's the limit! Last edited by CroMagna; 06-16-2009 at 11:23 PM. |

Those breasts were perky but not exactly small! Regarding the legs, I'd recommend doing squats and lunges and good mornings. In fact, I think the model you showed could benefit from weight lifting, too. Because it's fine when you're young and gravity hasn't taken effect - much - but eventually, if it's mostly fat, it's going to sag. Lifting weights will help you burn fat (and get a flat stomach) and also give shape to your legs and a boost to your booty. If you're already thick, as you say, you'll have no trouble achieving lovely, powerful legs. (The only problem is getting pants to fit after that. But if you're just hanging around in a bikini on the beach, you'll be fine!) Good luck! |

-Squats, and put your butt to the ground. Ass to grass as they call it. - Deadlifts - Benchpress, to work the muscles under your breasts. The flat stomach might need some dieting, I dont know how lean you are right now. Are you a vegan? If not I would go low carb, high protein, to get the stomach. Good luck

| She's a former contestant on Big Brother Brazil (BBB). Sought after as in popular with the guys and girls wish they looked like her. I think I would get a lot of positive feedback and that I would go out on dates. I think I would feel comfortable going to the beach and wearing summer outfits. I think I would feel very healthy.

I am wondering a little bit why you are deciding on how you want to look by what other people like...? Why not look they way you want to look, the way you feel good about yourself in the mirror.. you are the one looking who has to live within your body, not those other people. Even if you look exactly like those people in the pictures, if you do not really like that look, you will never be satisfied. As well, maybe your bodytype is just not that look. I could really want to look like twiggy, but not in a million year can I achieve that. It just is not my bodytype. |

I think you could achieve skinny if you worked at it. I never say never. I'm just not sure how to acheive this look, either through diet or exercise or what.

Why not just develop your own body to its highest potential of beauty instead of limiting yourself to someone else's beauty. Don't rob yourself of your own belongings. You could probably look like her in a couple months of hard work, but how long do think you'll be able to keep that up, living in someone's else shadow? It's a great story for the dinner party, but it's not really something you'd pass on to your children, is it? You have your whole life ahead of you. Just give your body what it needs and it'll reward you exponentially. By all means exercise and eat the rights foods, but create your own beauty. Be alittle original and develop your own look. I'm pretty sure the guys won't mind.

What about when gostosa goes out of style? What then? If I remember correctly, you were an exotic dancer at one point, so you must have a pretty decent body to work with. Eat to be healthy, exercise to be healthy, and your body will take care of the rest. Besides, you're a darkworker. Are you going to allow other peoples' arbitrary standards control your life? Be your best, and teach others to know it as the best. If you insist on conforming, lunges are better than squats for hitting your bunda in my experience. Squats are really good for thighs, though. Do high weight low reps, and do each rep slowly, if you're looking to build muscular bulk. |

No I definitely don't insist on conforming! Thanks guys, that was really great advice. I just want to look like my best. I think my best would be somewhat slim, maybe size 6, typical black girl shape. I think this is also realistic and that I would be happy with it. The question is now how. I still wanted to go through with the fast after work camp just to see if I could actually get myself to do that. This is the extreme version. The other version (I have until December) is eating everything in moderation and exercising, losing about 2 pounds each week until I hit my ideal shape. In terms of exercise, I like resistance training like yoga and I like long walks. In terms of cardio I like swimming. I hate the treadmill and the elliptical. |

Looking desirable: I think that is to be healthy and be confident on how you look. Being desirable is more about atitude than looks. The most beautiful person in the world will not be desirable if she walks with her head down, shoulders low and without confidence. However, an reasonable ok looking person who walks in the street with her head held high, with confidence and thinking that she looks good.. that is something that turns heads and is desirable! For the rest.. I think the most healthy and best in the long run would be just eating healthy, excersise as much as you want and loose 2 kilo or so per week. This is something that will last you longer. Good luck!

Those breasts look enhanced to me and she is not exactly slim. It is hard to try to achieve a look because each of us has our own body shapes. Some are pear, apple and the blessed ones have hourglass figure. The hourglass ones are the like of Jenifer Lopez, Beyonce. They can carry a bit of extra weight because the fat seem to be deposit in the right places. For most of us women who have pear or apple body shape, we do not carry our weight so graciously. We need to keep a tigh rein on our diet and need to learn how to dress ourselves to show off our best features and play down the bits that we don't like. It is amazing what one can achieve when dressing for your own figures. I must admit I have been watching "What not to wear" to pick up on tips and tricks on this. |

Wow! She's got a body like Lilo's sister in the movie "Lilo and Stitch!" I liked that shape when I thought it only came in cartoon form! Boob's look like they've had some work, but "it" works! She's blessed, blessed, blessed!!

Hey CroMagna & Guys - Even if we can't look exactly like a model of any kind, sometimes it's nice for a woman to see a body shape that's somewhat like our own, and recognized as beautiful, instead of only the skinny supermodel types you usually see. I can strengthen and tone my body to changed to be my best, but I'll never be able to grow the bones in my legs and so on to be a completely different type. I personally loved seeing this model - I've always been on the rounder side and it's nice to see that appreciated. I have a pretty lean body now, but can't get rid of the roundness. Oh, darn. CM, don't wait to start lifting weights. If you're lifting correctly (ensuring that you have a lot of tension in your muscles as you lift), you are telling your body to burn fat. As far as diet goes, I've had my best luck with a low-carb diet. But it takes some tinkering for each person to get it right for themselves. If you eat sugar, including fruit, you are basically telling you body that you don't want to burn fat for the next 3 hours or so. Losing fat is how you will have a flat stomach, no matter how many crunches you do! This web site is chock-full of tried and true information on physical fitness and fat loss: fitnessspotlight.com And a word of advice - I've had my best luck with exercise and diet when I did it to be my best "me". I love working out and I enjoy the heck out of it. Do it for love, honey - love of yourself! |

Also, it's impossible to keep track of where you are with that type of goal. Three months into your six-month goal to be size 6, you'll have no idea if you're on track to be size 6 in three months. Your weight loss might speed up, or slow down. Even if you're at size 6, you might gain weight in the next three months. It doesn't work. You've been doing things this way for a while, and it hasn't worked. What you can control is what food goes into your mouth, and what exercise you do. You can know exactly how on-track you are with this goal, just by looking at what you ate or did. It's not dependent on results that you can't control, but rather actions that you can. Plus, such a goal is on-going, so six months from now it will still be relevant. Because of this, you can never screw it up, because no matter how badly you're doing, right now in this moment you have the opportunity to turn it all around. Your fabled results are holding you back. Become a means, not an end.

You really need to post a picture of you in a bikini to have someone say what you would need to do to look like her. She has fake boobs. Her bodyfat is pretty low, she is "smooth" which looks great on a woman but she has no noticeable belly fat, just a layer over her whole body. Her main thing is she has huge thighs. Very muscular. Same with the other woman. Some women have that naturally. It can be achieved otherwise through bodybuilding. Squats are the best overall mass builder for legs. So you would want to learn all the basics of how/when to train and eat for that. I think it's fine to have a role model for how you want to build your body. And to a large degree most people CAN change their body types between ecto/meso/endomorphs. I have a friend who was very skinny, pot belly (endomorph with a beer belly), bad posture, get into bodybuilding and 4 years later he was competing in a natural show with a great endo-mesomorph body. If you are already thick it might just be a matter of losing some fat and building up your thighs a bit more. The word "thick" is used to describe everything from that woman to BBW so it's hard to say exactly what you should do. But it is TOTALLY possible to lose as much bodyfat as you are willing to put the work in for. Now if you were an extreme endomorph and have really thin legs and skinny thighs it's possible to get athletic/bigger thighs but without some type of androgen you probably woudn't ever get to HER level. It is important to set realistic goals. Since you are "thick" your thighs probably have a big head start. Your bodytype might actually be the same as hers but with more bodyfat. That look is ALWAYS in, a large percentage of men appreciate that in shape/not to shredded/curvy/thick thighs look. It's a good look. Last edited by joelr; 06-17-2009 at 03:23 AM.

The woman in the second picture definately bodybuilds. I can tell by her arms and her shoulders. I aint talking light weights eiether. But she has kept a small layer of fat and water around her. Her condition would be described as offseason.

I agree with you about the shredded look. I don't really like it on guys either. I was looking at some pictures of female bodybuilders who were shredded and eew, they looked like they didn't have any skin over the muscles! I think some fat layer is a nice thing. Plus when I see the shredded look, it makes me think they're probably grouchy.

I'll tell you this - I was dating a latino woman last summer who was like that woman in the picture except with much wider hips/bigger butt (smaller chest ) and the amount of men on the streets of Boston (and in cars driving by) who blatantly stared or made comments was ridiculous.
