A GROWING MIND is on a distinguished road
Default Too much water?

Ok so you guys probably do not want to hear this but I need to ask anyway. Yesterday in the late afternoon I drank A LOT of water... Im not sure why I was so thirsty but I had a huge amount. Later in the night I started feeling really sick. I ended up throwing up and having diarrhea. I still dont feel that great today but I am not sick. I suppose my stomach is still just irritated.

My question is could this have been caused by a huge amount of water intake?

Thanks.

I don't have anything really technical to shed on this post, but it did make me think of a story from a couple years back where a radio show hosted a contest called "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" where the purpose was to see what contestant could drink the most water without going to the restroom, and the winner would receive a Nintendo Wii. Some woman drank about 2 litres and was found dead a few hours later from water intoxication.

So based on this, I would say Yes, too much water could make you sick. But I'm no Health Pro!

Think about it. Can you eat too much? Yes, you can eat enough food to burst your stomach. Before a year ago I had only heard of one person drinking so much water that he died. But he was insane. But a year ago I heard of a female athlete dying from too much water. The more water you drink, the harder that you are making your kidneys work.

Are you under a docs care? - was that prescribed?

Are you a teen, or an adult? - Asking because most adults do know that 'water intoxication' (aka hyper-hydration, or water poisoning) is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain-functions, when its normal electrolyte balance is pushed outside of safe limits by over-consumption of water. - You've heard of moderation, or "self-control"

No I am not under a docs care at the moment and I am 21. I knew that you could die from it but I dont feel like I drank enough to make me sick. Yes it was a lot of water but it doesnt really seem like that much...

So it is possible to throw up from to much water...?

Water detoxifies the body.. it removes toxins.. I would assume you’re throwing up and diarrhea was likely helping you clean up what water couldn't; toxins in your system..

When I was a wee lad.. I remember drinking too much water and getting sick from it.. lately I've come to the idea that while agreements are in place for "eating things and drinking things" to affect the body.. we can in the moment of something bad (what we call a negative reaction) break those agreements and heal the body much better by doing so..

I remember that "Hold Your Wii" contest.

That's an interesting theory, Themaster. I'm not so sure though. I don't "deep clean" my car engine by getting it sick and having it run like crap for a day or two. Likewise, I'm not so sure if I can heal my body by doing something "bad" to it. Maybe though...

A Growing Mind, yeah, it sounds like you had too much water. It can easily happen. I find that 60 to 80 ounces, spread out over the day, is a good amount for me.

Theory or truth.. that is your choice..

I'm not suggesting that you get yourself sick.. I'm just suggesting that we all eat things that cause us some kickback/queasiness feeling once in a while.. I simply throughout the idea because it happened to me today and I believe I was able to stop it.. this same idea might have worked for "growing mind"

Sounds like to me you were just listening to what the cells in your body requested.. maybe it was too little to late or maybe it was to execute much better the throwing up/diarrhea
