I haven't experienced this before (at least not to this degree), but think I've developed alergies lately. It's spring, and lots of stuff in the air. I've been feeling more tired than normal and heavy headed. I don't really want to start popping pills for this, and was thinking there must be a nice natural solution to it. Can I fix this by a change in diet or other natural remedies? My current diet is pretty much SAD, and could easily do with improvement. |

My son used to have very bad hay fever. His allergies in the spring were so terrible that his nose was running all the time, he had sneezing attacks and never wanted to go outside. He also has Asperger's syndrome, which is an autistic spectrum disorder. I'd heard about doing casein and gluten free diets to ease some of his autistic symptoms. We started him on that diet which is no diary and no wheat, barley, rye and oats about 6 months ago. Surprisingly as an added bonus to the diet, his allergies cleared up. Now he doesn't get hay fever at all. I think it was probably cutting out the diary that helped.

I am in the exact same position. My nose is running a lot and I go through like 20-50 kleenex a day. I read Andrew Weil's recommendation for quercetin and stinging nettle to help with allergies. I just saw one reply he made to a woman that say I'm sorry my favorite natural allergy cures aren't working for you" or something similar and I just ordered them based on that. First day today, allergies seemed a little milder but I think at least quercetin takes a while to build up. Quercetin is an antioxidant. I don't know a lot about stinging nettle. The bottle says for improving respiratory health. |

You can try royal jelly or natural organic unfiltered honey for hay fever. I think hayfever bothers people mainly because another offending substance is hyperactivating their immune reactions, behind the scenes. The culprit will probably end up being milk/dairy, wheat, soy, nut, gluten...related. Jennifer |
