fast food, do not drink soda (especially diet soda). Change your regular salt over to sea salt, which is all natural. Walk an hour a day and you will lose weight. Myself, I have done the first 3 and I was 213 now I weight 187 in just 3 months The hardest part was the soda. I used to drink more than 2 liters a day, not anymore. I do not walk an hour a day and that is one of my problems, walking is just too boring. I know I need exercise to keep it off or get to the next level of loss. I used to play hockey and baseball too when I was younger, but I am 47 and stopped playing, that was my exercise. Any ideas of exercise that I can do, other than walking or just going to the gym. Thanks for listening. P.S. No fast food, you know better, lol. Last edited by coollikeme; 11-06-2006 at 02:51 AM. |

If you're looking for a unique way to exercise, take a look at Shovelgloving. Bizarre? Perhaps. Unique? Indeed. But does it work? It did for me. And it doesn't require any books to buy or special equipment--only a sledgehammer (which you probably already have) and an old sweater. If it doesn't work for you, nothing's lost. The website seems to be down at the moment, but keep it bookmarked and check back. Doing a regular shovelglove routine, paired with the NoS diet, could be a great combination for you. The NoS diet is simple, and has very few rules: No sugar, no seconds (portion control), no snacks, except on days that begin with "S" -- Saturdays, Sundays, and "Special" days (Holidays, birthdays, etc.) You're free to eat what, and how you like on "S" days. I try to incorporate a bit of extra walking in every day activities. For example, I go to the 4th floor restroom (by taking the stairs) instead of the one right in front of my office. I also am in the habit of being more active than most people because I'll just start walking or pacing when I'm on the phone or I'll start walking when I'm thinking. These small habits seem to keep me at a lower weight with out much effort. Other than that when ever I get a chance I download free Yoga videos by using the freeware democracyplayer. It uses bittorrent to legally distribute free videos and vlogs to users. So I'm subscribed to Yoga Today by using Democracy Player. It's fun Good luck |

A great alternative (or supplement) to exercise is adopting an active lifestyle. Try martial arts, cycling, swimming, tennis, hiking, golf, rock climbing, volleyball, soccer, etc. until you find activities that you like. You are much more likely to keep up with something you enjoy than something that feels like a chore. You should be active several days a week to really get the most out of it, so try a variety of activities. For example I like to hike, jog, mountain biking, and mixed-martial-arts sparring with my friends. Being outdoors also adds a lot of value to the "workout" for me. Be ambitious when looking for fun, active hobbies! Another alternative is to exercise during times when you are normally sedentary. My parents have certain tv-shows they watch every night. I got them to put a couple of stationary bikes/treadmills/rowing machines infront of one of the TVs and they do an hour (they record their shows on their DVR -- or Tivo if you have one) of exercise 6 days a week now. Try and think of other things you can do in front of the TV: push-ups, situps, pullups, punching bag, squats, yoga, etc. |

Taco Bell is the only fast food I'd have a problem giving up, as it's the only fast food I ever eat. It's cheap too, so I save alot of money per month by just going to Taco Bell a few times a week. I don't think it's nearly as unhealthful as say, McDonalds, and as far as I know the only bad thing in a bean taco (what I usually get) is the flour tortilla and the cheese.. |

| I find driving in my car boring as well as walking. But then I started listening to podcasts and audio-books, and not only am I getting smarter while I drive/walk/bike, but time passes by much faster! Just make sure it is safe, so that you can always hear what you need to hear in the traffic. Not much sense in getting killed in the process towards getting a better life... |
