Parental Rights to Cancer Treatment?

Speaking of the American Cancer Society, I was looking through some of my old saved links and found one for the Cancer Prevention Coalition website whose founder is Dr. Samuel Epstein, professor emeritus of Environmental and Occupational Medicine and author of The Politics of Cancer, among other books and many scientific publications.

Although the following article from the site cites old figures, I'll bet not very much has changed since the 90s:

Cancer Drug Industry
The intimate association between the ACS and the cancer drug industry, with current annual sales of about $12 billion, is further illustrated by the unbridled aggression which the Society has directed at potential competitors of the industry (13). Just as Senator Joseph McCarthy had his "black list" of suspected communists and Richard Nixon his environmental activist "enemies list," so too the ACS maintains a "Committee on Unproven Methods of Cancer Management" which periodically "reviews" unorthodox or alternative therapies. This Committee is comprised of "volunteer health care professionals," carefully selected proponents of orthodox, expensive, and usually toxic drugs patented by major pharmaceutical companies, and opponents of alternative or "unproven" therapies which are generally cheap, nonpatentable, and minimally toxic (13).

Periodically, the Committee updates its statements on "unproven methods," which are then widely disseminated to clinicians, cheerleader science writers, and the public. Once a clinician or oncologist becomes associated with "unproven methods," he or she is blackballed by the cancer establishment. Funding for the accused "quack" becomes inaccessible, followed by systematic harassment. The highly biased ACS witch-hunts against alternative practitioners is in striking contrast to its extravagant and uncritical endorsement of conventional toxic chemotherapy. This in spite of the absence of any objective evidence of improved survival rates or reduced mortality following chemotherapy for all but some relatively rare cancers.

In 1971, Congress passed the National Cancer Act which authorized the National Cancer Program, calling for "an expanded and intensified research program for the prevention of cancer caused by occupational or environmental exposures to carcinogens." Shortly afterwards, President Richard Nixon announced his "War Against Cancer," and authorized a $200 million budget for the NCI. Since then, its budget has escalated by nearly 30-fold, to $5.3 billion this year.

Meanwhile, the incidence of a wide range of cancers, other than those due to smoking, has escalated sharply from 1975 to 2005, when the latest NCI statistics were published. These include malignant melanoma (172%), Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (79%), thyroid (116%), testis (60%), and childhood cancers (38%).

As I have said before, maintaining your health with a good diet and exercise is exactly what I (and all the doctors I have talked to, on the subject) want you to do!

Do any of you really think that mineral water, prayers, etc. would cure cancer?

Sometimes, though, disease does develop that can't be cured by lifestyle modification alone. Cancer is one of those diseases.

Yes, God Himself can directly intervene for a miracle; but why? -
Consider He's designed & created us each, most often with a person guiding, the sufferer thru very individual self-healing processes.

And no, mineral water, diet, & changing the 'out'side of a person & lifestyle isn't the 'cure', nor can it get the job done.

Cancering is an inside job; & when the inside real person is helped to successfully change, yes! from chronic sick conditions one can, & does, heal.

quite in agreement, with prevention...
"Clearly, the more cancer is prevented, the less there is to treat.
As importantly, this will also be of major help in achieving President Obama's goal "to lower health care costs."

But 1st. people would be educated what produces cancering strategies;
and what cancer is not, & that includes 'metastasis' <-- were that the case, then brain-cells would be found migrated to the lungs, liver, skin, toenails, etc. and breast-cells would be found in the ovaries & uterus, etc. - but that doesn't happen, unless intentionally placed there.

Thus first people would need to be truthfully informed as to what is going on; so each individual mind can successfully effect & start it's own healing... decisions & processes as many already do.
