Well since the topic involveds nutrtion and exercise, since this a self improvment forum I will say this. I see more value in using my time to read vegetarian nutrition books and working out then chasing down pissing contests on other forums.
No snarkyness meant, I think the later is a sure sign you aren't using your time well.
I am a member of BBcom, and it's just not a good use of time to argue nutrition there. Most people are trying to put on mass and are convinced that meat eating is essential. For the most part people there advocate a very clean diet, that just happens to include meat. I am not a vegetarian, though I plan to give it a try in gradual steps.
I haven't actually read the thread (they want me to sign up for an account for some reason -- don't remember ever having to visit your link do that before, but, eh, bugger that), and I'm sure the thread is amusing like pretty much everything else on that forum, but like the other StevePavlina.com forum members, I too think you can make better use of your time.
If you’re not just arguing with a bunch of try hard bodybuilders and toothpick girly-men who claim that they can bench 250 lb and are instead actually having a decent, intelligent discussion, let me know and I’ll be happy to participate or at least, give it a read. Other then that, good luck, soldier -- you'll need it.
On another note, you'd likely get a better response to your thread (as in this one) by posting a more detailed description of what the thread is about. The thread title "Vegetarian War!" sure implies a lot, but it doesn't give me much incentive to make use of the link you provided and I'm sure most people will either A) not worry about your thread at all or B) hit the Bodybuilding.com forum registration wall and just move on to something more important. It is part of the Forum Etiquette Guidelines to adequately describe linked content, and like the thread title, "Help please" sure does imply a lot, but it does little to encourage meaningful, constructive discussion and entice or give reason for forum visitors/members to use any of the resources you link to. Ticktockclok, please take note of this information when making future posts.
just wondering, hope this is in topic here, but what's wrong with whey? I tried it in my diet for a few months, and though I prefer rice protein now, I think I would definitely choose whey over soy in any form.
also wondering, in the article Bruce posted, it says whey stimulates insulin secretion. is that supposed to be a good thing? I thought that lower insulin was better.
Athena: I'm wondering whats wrong with whey as well.
Bruce: You're right. "Vegetarian wars" was a pretty stupid title. The topic was kind of stupid; I mean, its pointless to argue. I just got caught up in it. However, I'm not going to say the boards there are useless. I just look in the nutrition section, since there's nothing else I'm interested in, but there is a lot of good stuff. For example, I just found out about this stuff called yerba mate on those forums. Its a tea type of thing which is part of culture in many South American countries. Its got tons of health benefits (not protein), and not a single negative about it. I'm not hyping it up, thats what all the places I've researched about it have said.
They have vegetarian bodybuilder types on the forums too. Just not too many. It probably wasn't a good idea to peep into that topic.
