This year I intend to: - Run 4 half marathons. I'm already training for the first one at the end of January. I leave the marathon for 2008. - Run at least 70 Km each week (30 km now). - Do the "Matagalls-Montserrat" (Catalonia, Spain), a 83Km popular ultradistance race in September. This race starts at mount Matagalls and ends at mount Montserrat. All of it is done through mountain trails and you have a day to complete it. I want to do it walking, not running. - Do at least 1 mountain bike workout a month. 40 km more or less. Since I quit smoking three and a half years ago I've been walking, running and cycling, gradually increasing time and distance, but without taking it very seriously and without making plans. This is the first year I have some goals. What are your fitness goals for this year?

Hi fbmfor, As per my signature! Hopefully in a few years a half-marathon might be possible. I've just started a tiny bit of outdoor running, and I'm really enjoying it. I've had a personal trainer for about 6 weeks, and my fitness has improved out of sight in that short time. Who knows what I'll be capable of in 6 months? Anyhoo, I'm sticking with the fairly modest goals in my sig as a start. Best wishes for your super-fit 2007! Cheers, Claire

To run 5 miles (approx 6.5km???) by August 07. I have had a hold up with this goal though, as I have been sufferring from a chest infection since the new year! I can barely make it downstairs, let alone go running at 5am! |

Healthyfit: I also want to live healthy, fit, happy, and balanced. But I've found that without having goals I tend to relax. Maybe my goals for this year are too ambitious but that's just the point: to go for something more.

For the first half of the year, my goals are to be able to run a 5K with my buddy, and to be flexible enough to draw henna on my feet, which I have a difficult time reaching at the moment! For the last half of the year, I'm thinking I should up it to 10K. My buddy did track in high school and recently finished 4th in her division for the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 10K... darn her! For flexibility goals, by the end of the year I would love love love to be one of those girls who can actually grab her feet in a seated forward bend, practically hitting her head on her knees. That would be sweet. Otherwise, just getting my back heel down in the Warrior yoga poses would be nifty.

I want to lose these last 10 lbs and get my athleticism back from high school. It's been almost 10 years, and I miss how good I felt to run 90 minute soccer games and still want to play more. So I guess my goals are losing 10 lbs and running a 90 min soccer game by the end of the year. B-)

Hello Steve Pavlina forums, This is my first of hopefully many posts. I start here because this is the area of my life I feel best as 2007 begins. JorAlv84's progress on lose 25 pounds on 43 Things Right now, I feel great. I'm in better shape than I was at any point during college, and there is no way I'm going to let myself lose the progress I've made. No, in fact, I'm going to turn it up. I think the easiest way to lay out my goals would be throughout a timeline: January: Lower body fat to 20% at least. Beginning of April: Will have lost remaining 11 pounds to get to goal weight of 160 pounds. (Plan on getting this one done early, knock on wood) End of October: Run in Detroit Free Press Marathon Christmas: Give myself a present I'll have to be nice and not naughty all year for... abs. That's the basic layout, but there's a lot of other things I want to work in there... -best my previous (and only) 5k time, get under 30 minutes -run a 10k -run a half-marathon -complete training programs for half-marathon and marathon -learn how to swim before summer -keep weighing myself every Monday morning, establish a new goal weight and plan after reaching 160 -take a picture of my profile and front every month |

| I'm not a runner at all. Before I joined a Gym I think I could only run for 4 minutes maximum! My area is very hilly, so for someone who was a beginner, hills make it difficult! When I joined the Gym and jumped on the treadmill, I found it so much easier to run for longer and work my way up to 20 minutes.

Hey All, Well, my fitness goal for '07 is to compete one last season of outdoor track. I ran the 400 meters in college and one year of post-collegiate track, but have since become entrenched with work. The last 2 years I have done very minimal exercise other than run for a couple of weeks last summer. Since the season runs from about March to August, my goal is to run at a competitive level one last season. I hope to open up the season in maybe June. Since it's relatively a short turn around I have to get in gear, especially since I'm not getting any younger. Wish me luck, Jane |

This year I really want to focus on my running. I was a competitive swimmer for years, along with cycling to practice often (now to work). In my first sprint triathlon (1/2 mi swim, 20k bike, 5k run), I ended up walking a large portion of the run. Since then, I have begun training for my first half marathon. This weekend I actually ended up running 10 miles both Saturday and Sunday. As far as my goals are concerned, I want to be able to hold about 7 minute during a 5k at the end of a sprint triathlon (by about May). Other fitness goals include hitting a target weight of about 180-190. (I'm 6'3 at 200ish).

For 2007, I simply want to continue to exercise 3 times per week (strenght and cardio) as I have been doing for over 15 years. Another goal I have set for myself is to qualify for this year's Red Bull Crashed Ice event (http://www.redbullcrashedice.ca). Qualifications for the Montreal area are this week-end. I need to be in the top 12 (on 100 skaters) to go to the Final in Quebec City. René |

| It was in my home town: Terrassa, in Catalunya (Spain). Put these coordinates into the Google Maps search box: 41.569636, 2.017398 and you'll get there

To work out on the exercise bike for 24 minutes a day, at least five days a week, not to mention lift weights at least four times a week, and go for a walk daily, weather permitting.
