Hi all, when you start to read about raw food on the internet, it's easy to become lost because of the crazy amount of different information there is. But if you simplify it, you can see 2 main movements : low fat (like the 80/10/10 diet) and high fat (with lots of nuts and avocados, like Viktoria Boutenko's family seems to do). I'm trying to start a raw food diet, and frankly I don't know how I can organize it with all the contradictory information on the net. At first, it seems impossible to me to do a 80/10/10 diet, because I really don't want to eat mostly bananas everyday. I tried once, and the taste of the banana made me sick in the end But then, there comes the calorie problem. If I start a raw diet, it would certainly be a high fat diet, but reading a lot of things on how low fat diets are better and all make me worry. So, what should I do ? |

Hi Gojippo, nobody can tell you what you should do. It's your decision. What I can tell you is that even after you go raw, your diet will change and evolve, so it's not like your decision now will be forever. You can start with one kind of diet and switch to something else later. For the beginning, why not just eat anything as long as it's raw, and observe what you feel attracted to? Self-experimentation is the best way to know what's good for you. I don't believe low-fat diets are better. I don't believe high-fat diets are better either. Maybe it's just different for each person? I know that I personally don't do well at all on a low-fat diet. I tried very hard to go low-fat for months and just wasn't thriving. It definitely got on my nerves. On the other hand I feel absolutely wonderful on high-fat. But I know other people who are doing very well on a low-fat diet, and had a hard time digesting a high-fat one. So I think, maybe we all need different amounts of fat, and what's good for me isn't good for you. I'm afraid you'll have to find out on your own what works for you and what doesn't. Your body will tell you. Good luck! |

Start each day with a giant green smoothie, composed mostly of fruit but with plenty of leafy greens like spinach or kale. From there, eat when you get hungry. Eat whatever sounds good (RAW foods, that is). Stop when you are full. If your body says nuts, eat nuts. If your body says oranges, eat oranges. If your body says raw cacao truffle with pecan crumbles, have at it! Don't be defined by somebody else's diet plan. Just listen to your body, and trust it. The most awesome thing about eating Raw is that when you do, you will actually be able to *hear* what your body is saying. I am on day 11 of a 30-day raw trial, and this is the way I'm eating. it is pretty amazing and really interesting to experience. If you're interested I'm writing about it here: Bonzai Aphrodite And this may be of particular interest to you, where I analyze a few days worth of eating for nutritional value: RAW Month: Day 10 Check-In | Bonzai Aphrodite Try RAW - no harm in trying! And LUCK! |
