Default My '30-Day RAW' Blog

Hey All! I don't know if you all are sick of reading about Raw Trials yet, but I'm willing to give it a go. I started my 30-day Raw trial yesterday March 1, and will continue through the month of March. I blog at Bonzai Aphrodite, and will be posting food journals, recipes, raw product reviews, and my own personal experiences going RAW - along with all my other content regarding mindful eating, urban farming, and ethical fashion.

I'd love it if you stopped by and checked it out. If there's interest I'll post here as well. I'm always open to suggestions/critiques/support, etc.

Wish me happy feasting!
Bonzai!
~Sayward

Hey All!

Well even though nobody left a reply, I know many of y'all clicked through (my trusty spybots tell me so). So I'm just going to assume you're all shy and keep on posting as normal.

Here's a fun and super easy recipe for RAW Hummus I thought you guys might be interested in : Recipe: RAW Hummus | Bonzai Aphrodite

I am not tired of reading about it. The experiences are different. I have read about people who went raw and went through a period where they were very underweight. I better turn on my anti-spybot tool.

OK, I went to your blog. We need more adorable looking women like you trying out the raw food diet. I do not think that what you try are weird. I think that it is weird that women eat all these terrible foods and get breast cancer and then have to have their breasts removed.

Then what is weird is that these women are the heroes for having a lifestyle that would give them cancer. If they live, they are a cancer survivor and a hero. If they die, they are a hero. Getting cancer is heroic. Isn't that weird? Also I am a male and a scientist and I think that the sexiest thing is a female scientist that is very smart, like you.

Harvey Diamond and his wife wrote Fit for Life and Fit for Life 2. Then Harvey wrote a book about avoiding breast cancer. He said that the way to do it was to eat all raw foods for a week every 6 months. He also said that early detection of breast cancer is when the tumor is the size of a pea. But by then the tumor has been growing for 10 years!

Have you tried any of the healthy coffee alternatives? You are not supposed to drink coffee during the master cleanser lemonade diet, but I guess that you know that. Also I think that picture of you having noodles hanging out of your mouth with lips clenched tightly around them is very erotic.

I think that the internet has become a much nicer place to visit since you have put your blog on it. My only complaint is that you did not have any Google ads on it (Adsense). Half the fun of visting a great website like yours is clicking on the Google ads. Are you so rich that you do not want any extra money? I guess you know that you get paid whenever someone clicks on a Google ad that you put on your site.

It is easy to put them up and there is no cost to do it. Also make sure to keep putting up pictures of yourself. A picture is worth a thousand words. Here is my blog. Lately it has been about a 15 year old French girl in Paris (I live in Philadelphia) that was so sad, that she jumped off her 5th floor balcony to end her sadness. She broke an arm and a leg and went into a coma for a few days, but she lived. Since I am her only friend, it is up to me to give her the desire to stay alive.

You have picked an appropriate nickname since in Greek mythology, Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty and sexual rapture.

I checked it out. Good stuff. Especially Chickens and Tom Waits! I like you. Thought I was the only one banging my head to 'Don't Go Into the Barn'.

He's my distance running soundtrack. But only in the river valley. The cities belong to Danny Elfman.

Okay, I give up - once I've drilled into and read the first post, where's the "next post" button? I'd prefer not to have to read bottom-to-top as I work my way through the archives.

Thanks.

Wow, Keith, you totally caught an accidental error. We wrote 'previous' and 'next' buttons into the code. Wonder why they are not showing up? Damn!

But see, this is why new eyes are essential! Thank you!

I'm not tired of hearing, either... have just been off the forums for a short bit.

Angela, thanks for the comments here and on my recipes! I checked out your site as well, and I love it! My husband designed and built my site - he is a freelance web designer, and I agree, he's super talented!

I noticed a couple of your recipes call for hemp seeds. I've been seeing them referenced a lot lately. What's the deal with them? Are they really a good source of protein? Better on omega's than flax?

I'm really looking to get more raw proteins (without insanely high oils), and finding it more difficult than I expected.

Yah, they've got like 34% protein! And a "complete" amino acid profile... as well as a massive "trace mineral" profile. Hemp seed is always touted as having a "perfect balance: of Omega 3s and 6s -- here's the comparison with flax.

Personally, I just can't stand the taste of flax, but hemp is just yummilicious.

Hemp for great protein source, all the way. I love sunflower seeds as well -- 100g has 24g of protein, and they're cheap. You can get a giant bag bulk and use it for so many things. Makes a nice fresh milk -- I make that more frequently than almond milk.

Also -- this is cool -- broccoli is apparently 45% protein! And spinach is 49% (I'm taking the word of online nutrition analyzers, here...) So fire up the green smoothies for protein. Broccoli happens to pair up beautifully with pineapple for some reason, and makes smoothies rather creamy (surprisingly). Spinach goes with *everything*, and especially complements raw chocolate -- so if you throw in some almonds or carob, you'd have a rich protein-calcium-magnesium-live enzyme drink.

Also, since you're a chef -- experiment with raw broccoli salads. Peel the outer skin off & chop up rather small and combine with your favorite salad things. The broccoli becomes very, very tender & delicate that way.

Sorry to yammer... I do love this topic so. LOL

Thanks for the info! No such thing as yammering - I could talk about food ALL DAY if I let myself . . . pesky work always getting in the way. But anyways, I too am a *huge* fan of raw broccoli and eat loads of it - I always forget it's got protein!

I'm excited to try hemp seeds now too. Thanks!
