Cardio is hgihly recommended as it is what burns calories and increases metabolism. So in answer to your question, No there are other ways to lose weight, however Cardio is the effective and healthy way. Don't worry, I hate cardio also. |

Nopes. A balanced training course is best, a combination of high intensity low resistance exercises for the energy burning and low intensity high resistance exercises for tonight and strengthening muscles. No building muscles though, you probably don't want that and it takes a more focussed routine. High intensity can be cardio, or it can be low weight reps with a weight set, or it can be a sport. Just find what you enjoy doing, and work out ways to make it even more enjoyable. You also need to balance the other side: what you eat. That's a different topic. |

I always had a problem with putting weight on easily and decided to join a gym and see if i could get the excess weight off and improve my general fitness. I concentrate on cardio and at first found it a chore and it was difficult to perservere with it. After about 6 months when i started to really feel the benefits that gave me the encouragement and motivation i needed. I got my excess weight off 2 1/2 stones, and with some dietery changes have kept it off. I dont like doing the weights but complement my gym work with swimming and cycling, so for me cardio is something i now really enjoy, and not having sky at home i get to see all the football on there too. |

Yes! I know exactly what you mean about being an edorphin junkie Angela. For me it takes a little bit to get over the intial "task" then something kicks in and before I know it I'm in flying mode. When I run by the ocean it magnifies.
