Besides the obvious things such as opening the windows or taking a cold shower I simply take 5 to 10 minutes to stretch every muscle while drinking cold water. Then I have my hot coffee and start my day. Another option is to get right out of bed and change out of your pjs. Making your bed in your day clothes makes you think twice about jumping back in. |

Push-ups alone are not so good, because you'll probably fatigue your muscles before you get your cardiovascular system going (which is what gets you awake). Try a conditioning circuit. 5 rounds of: 5x push-ups 10x squats 15x jumps |

Normally I wake up before the alarm clock. It became my habit to lay on my back and get really, really happy excited to have reached my goals. (I have two at the time) combined with the deep happiness I have for previous succeeded goals (quit smoking is one of them) So I lay half a sleep half conditioning my self to a happy state. After the alarm clock their might be a chance, I can overwhelm my partner with some physical love. That is making the endorphins really come out to play. Of course after that it is the regular sport, green drink etc. But I like that state in between a wake and a sleep for programming my self. Love, |

the state you fall asleep in and what transpires while you sleep has much to do with the state you'll be in when you wake up. Try, as I do, to listen to mediative music (I keep mine on all night). Makes quite a difference.

Waking up is so frusterating. I ususally go to bed between 10:30 and 11:00 every night on school nights. I wake up at about 6:45 Sometimes I feel very awake and sometimes I feel extremely tired. It's annoying because I go to bed at the same time every night! How will I know if im going to be awake or not? I won't. poo |

Set phone alarm to a ringtone thats the same exact ringtone you have set to someone important in your life.. when it goes off, since your mind is already programmed to know which ringtone is who's, you will have a second of excitement jolt through your body before you realize it was just your ringtone for the alarm. Now when you go to turn it off don't feel bad that it wasn't a real phone call and you got up for nothing and go back to sleep.. keep yourself up.. at this point you probably need to use the restroom... before leaving the bathroom turn light on and brush your teeth. by doing all these you have awakened your: -sense of hearing -sense of taste -sense of sight this should get you up and ready.. if not.. you probably just need to sleep a little bit more. i hope it helps and the best of luck with finding out what works for you. =D |

Get a radio alarm and place it somewhere in your bedroom where you have to get out of bed and walk a little bit to turn it off. Make sure you turn the volume of the music up really high. Then write a motivational quote on a piece of paper, and place it next to the radio alarm. The idea of placing the alarm on the other side of the room is a bit cliched by now, but it works! |

Use some good hard rock like Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin(or whatever you like of course) as your alarm. There are plugins for winamp for this. And make it play on a real stereo, your cell phone won´t really do. It doesn´t give you any boost.

I still crawl back in bed, but it DOES keep me responding to the alarm. Something odd that I read in a book called "Dhanwantari" named after an Indian god of medicine. First, check which nostril air is flowing through most freely. Then take the matching hand and stare at it, as if it were a new thing. Wiggle it and feel it respond to your will, focus your attention and energy on it, and (this I added) perhaps imagine how much you can do with it over time. Then, once this hand is awake, do the same with the other one. Seriously, you must do this with both hands. Once I did it with only one before beginning classes, my right hand. The left hand went numb! I kid you not. The book also recommended that this be performed about a half hour before sunrise. You may not believe me, but my response to this (and a few other meditative things I did to enhance my performance) was so profound that I acted a lot like Alex Keaton on speed: thought I was invincible I mean, if you're fifteen and doing "speed" with only the power of your mind, hey, you get to feeling pretty smart. OTOH, being a type A has its advantages but it takes more than two weeks to learn it. I was probably "bipolar" and didn't know it. Either way, just don't forget to veg out once in a while. |

Also, note that "bending over backward" is supposed to stimulate the adrenals. Stretch your back so that you are pushing your chest forward and folding your shoulders toward your butt. Just go till you feel a comfortable pulling, and be sure to stand straight when you're done. To lock things in, squint a bit, like its a really sunny day, and smile or smirk; when you've done these things right you should be feeling really good. If the smile doesn't work, see if it feels better to frown...

For many people, coffee is really good for waking them up in the morning. It gives your brain a lot of pleasure chemicals. Personally, I'm very sensitive to coffee, and it makes me feel high - like I'm in love or on cocaine (which I've never tried). Unfortunately, it hurts my stomach, so I only sneak it in occassionally. But yeah, coffee is excellent for give you that jolt and making you excited about the day. There are reasons to poo-poo coffee, but if it adds a substantial benefit to your daily life, you may want to indulge in a bit of a morning coffee habit. -Prof. Obvious |
