I've been doing research on back & hip pain for 2 years now and still cannot find a re-assured answer to my problems. I have never had backache until after the birth of our daughter (I was 29 then) - I felt quite fit even during my whole pregnancy and did moderate exercises throughout it. Then, during the delivery something went wrong and since that day I have been experiencing a bad backache. To make it worse, 8 months after the birth I started feeling this sharp aching pain in my left hip. I can walk only a short distance (1/5 - 1/4 of mile) and then the pain alleviates to such a level that I cannot make any single step more. I used to walk miles and miles as I love walking and being active. We have a huge wonderful forest with a farm near our home but I cannot make even to get there! I'd love to take our 2.5-year old daughter to lots of places and pick her up like I used to do when she was a baby but... I lived on strong uninflamatorry painkillers for good several months but they did affect my stomach so had to quit. Doctors here in United Kingdom don't know what to suggest - X-rays and even MRI scans don't show anything wrong I've been doing exercises (pilates, yoga) for quite some time but they don't seem to be helping much... 3 months ago I went abroad to seek for other suggestions and saw a private doctor/surgeon. He suggested I only had to strenghten my back and pelvis muscles and everything would go back to their places so I will hopefully be 'normal' again... I've been doing special exercise routine since I returned home but have no improvements as yet. Maybe I am doing something wrong and should I do the exercises if it hurts while I do them? Just wanted to ask if anyone from you heard a similar story and is there anything else I can try Didn't think it would come up such a long story - thank you for your time Yuvi |

I suffered from back and hip pain for quite some time, I went through a phisio program, acupuncture and all sorts of other strange and painful things to try and fix it. Eventually I tried core stability exercises, swiss ball and stair master, my hip pain rarely bothers me anymore and the back pain is much less now too. I still can't run far because the impact seems to hurt but I like to walk and cycle alot now. What am I saying? try core stability exercises and also try to work on your gluteal muscles. this is what seemed to make the biggest improvements for me. If this does not work then just keep trying different stuff, sooner or later you will notice something is woking for you. You know your body better than anyone else does so try and find what is right for it. Hope it turns out well |

| Samsixty, thank you so much for sharing your experience with me. I think I do the right exercises - the only thing I could doubt is the length of time I spend for exercising...I exercise about 1/2 hour every day but really taking easy... Can I ask you please how long had you been exercising before you noticed the major difference? Thank you once again Yuvi |

It sounds like you'd benefit from a chiropracter. Stephen Power-Book Library: Free personal development, success, inspiration and motivational classics |

I know that this posting is rather old, but I am rather new in this community, so... I was a paratrooper in 1984 to 1985. Yes, really short because I thought it would be the best idea to destruct all my vertebrae in one sole hit, striking some rocks as strong as I could do. I needed 20 years to get really back on my feet. Became lazy, wasn't able to bend down at all. I suffered about back aches the whole 20 years. Finally, in 2006, i got a chirurgical intervention that really helped me. I started in 2006 with the power of a 10 year old child in my back. By this time I was growing fat with more than 20 kg surplus (oh no, don't tell me that you are to lazy to convert kg in lbs). NOW, right now. I am able to move like a normal being. Feeling like a 10 year old... Ok, that doesn't fit your question. Only wanted to say: Fitness is relative! You can find yourself in a wonderful shape, just being able to set one foot after the other! |
