If a person wanted to be more relaxed, less of a control freak, what might be prescribed?

In addition to untold billions upon billions of other benefits, meditation can powerfully relax the body-mind, it's free, and you can do it in one form or another almost anywhere. The trick, of course, is that it takes a while to figure out how to actually do it, whether you have a teacher or are working off of a book or tapes or what have you. But if you're going after that relaxed chill vibe, meditation is the best thing I've found. |

Fast! You would be amazed at the high you can obtain just from fasting. really most of the suggestions are great. running and meditating ect... anything to help you reach an enlightened state of mind will by far surpass any (if any) benefits you think you get from drugs.

| Angela's got a point. Love is a great substitute for destructive activities. Smart, confident, and frisky. Just my type

I've never taken it, (and would never take it), but it seems to have helped my cousin, who used to be really high-strung and stressed out.

I'll tell you the best alcohol substitute - "No Alcohol". For real... I tried it You can also try Paraliminals. I just got 3 of them from a friend - they're great. Also - Tai Chi does wonders. After 3 months of learning, I did get at a level where it has such a strong relaxing and energizing effect. Bach flower remedy is another thing, I'm using it sometimes but I am not sure it is effective. If it is, it's too gentle and by the time it acts, I am already involved in a totally different activity and therefore feel different too. Showers... massages etc. However, it's true that most of these things, you can't swallow.

Tho, the best potion, and this under your constant control, should you decide you want this, is 'hypnosis' especially once you've been taught how to get yourself into any excellent Mind-states you might want. And the best part is, you used to know

If you're simply trying to be more relaxed, have balanced and harmonious moods, I suggest regular exercise, a non refined, plant-based diet, no stimulants and enough sleep. If you're looking for something with a bit more of a buzz, but without drugs side effects, you might be interested in binaural beats (like these)... I haven't personally tried any that replicate drug effects because I'm not interested in that, but I have used the sex ones and - woah! |

There's not a whole lot of choice when it comes to a legal alternative to cannabis, especially when you don't allow alcohol. The meditation idea is good, but if you're looking for a quick fix, you're probably not going to be interested in taking this slow paced method. I would recommend finding a smokable alternative, if your method must be in the form of a substance. The act of rolling a cig, and smoking it would be a nice change of pace for your day. The restricted oxygen intake will probably slow your response time, and mellow you out. Whether this involves the "herbal" alternatives to cannabis, or whether it's simply a swisher, is up to you. Ultimately though, I would recommend that you re-think your position on the idea that your ability to calm down will come in the form of a drug.

Try eating lots of fat. About a week ago I got really stoned on a couple handfuls of nuts and an avocado. It was much like smoking a good indica cannabis, I was relaxed, happy, dopey, and reality was amusing and a little strange. Probably not the best solution for long-term, you will eventually be stressed about eating too many calories, doing heart damage, etc. etc. If you want to feel consistently relaxed and high it is a better idea to seek long-term solutions, or else you will just find yourself self-medicating in increasing doses.
