I see that people on this forum are interested in long-term fasting. I want to show people on this board how fasting frequently several days a week has many benefits. First off is the question of starvation. Intermittent fasting is NOT about starving yourself, it is simply about creating a shorter feeding window in which you take in all your calories. Best of all it has many of the same benefits of Calorie Restriction without its drawbacks such as muscle wasting, testosterone depletion and lowered libido. The eating window can be 12, 8, 4, or even 2 hours. During this time you take in all you need to be full. I give myself an 8-hour window in which I take in anywhere between 2000-3000 calories (from natural healthy foods of course). I came into Intermittent Fasting after a 30-day juice fast. I started with the Warrior Diet and slowly adapted to suit my own needs and craving. I then went to Leangains, a more bodybuilding approach to the regimen and nowadays my diet is Paleo. What really interested me about IF is that it went against the 5-7 meals-day dogma that conventional fitness really tries to push. I found out that there is no metabolic advantage, no blood sugar advantage, NOTHING that comes from a high meal frequency. There is no right way of doing IF. There's: Daily Fasting LeanGains (15- hour fast) Warrior Diet (20 hour undereating phase, 4 hour overeating phase) Alternate Day Fasting Eat Stop Eat (24 hour fasting 2 or 3 times a week) For more information check this out: Intermittent Fasting 101 - How to start | TheIFLife - Simple Fat Loss, Muscle, Health and Longevity |
