Default My Hair Is Orgasmic!

I have to let it out, ive been twirling it for hours on end and i cant stop touching it okay heres the big secret:

1. Neutrogena clairifying shampoo. Any shampoo thats clarifying/residue cleaning. Skip the moisture shaz.

2. JOJOBA OIL. Massage, use at lot, use a little. Or just don't wash your hair everyday. Oil = good.

3. The big one: Bananas+Raw food.

Guys. Go raw.

Hair is quite different, so not everybody might have the same results with this routine.

I have participated for some time in the longhaircommunity and stopped using shampoos with silicones and harsh cleansing agents and use oils on my hair, and it has worked miracles, too.

Oil, huh? Hmm. Never tried it. I've heard some people say coconut oil works very well, and I've seen coconut oil shampoo and conditioner out there. Anyone know if they're any good?

... I'm also wondering if I'm the only guy posting in this thread.

Now you GUY need to tell how long your hair is, of course!

Coconut shampoo: I do not think that coconut oil as an ingredient per se will make a good shampoo/conditioner, other factors play in as well.
But I have heard many good things about coconut oil myself.

Perhaps you could buy a small bottle of the shampoo in question or the oil (if your hair is long, and just rub it into the length. I do this with my oils all the time and use no conditioner) and try it out.

Hehehe, well, my hair isn't very long yet, but I'm letting it grow out
Here's my profile picture on my Hyves. That's about how long it is at the moment.

I'll check the coconut oil shampoo/conditioner out, I've personally had good experiences with royal jelly. Coconut oil sounds kind of exotic though~

There's a whole "no 'poo" movement out there:

The Phoenix > Lifestyle Features > The No-’Poo Do

I am not shampoo-free, I use J.R. Liggett's, but it's something I'm considering doing.

Interesting. I think I might try it too! Although I am still going to try that coconut oil conditioner. I've read that it doesn't contain any silicones, so that's good!

By the way, something that kind of confused me... I heard that alcohol is bad for your hair because it dries it out. In some of the no-'poo articles they suggest you use applecider vinegar (in water) as a conditioner kind of thing. However, applecider vinegar contains alcohol, doesn't it? Then why is this recommended?

There's no alcohol in apple cider vinegar.

Hmmm. Okay, I did some more research about how vinegar is actually made, and it makes a lot more sense to me now. I guess the cider part kind of confused me

It contans no alcohol, but it can dry hair anyway, especially if used in large quantities.

I do not use such rinses, either my hair gets frizzy or it doesn't do anything at all because the vinegar is so diluted.
I rinse with black tea instead (not recommanded for blondes!), and cold water.
Complete routine looks something like this: Wash when necessary with a mild, homemade soap, rinse as above, dry, oil lengths as necessary (currently shea butter).

Alternative haircare
Some people might object to put tea, vinegar or eggs (they can be used as a substitute for shampoo, too) on their heads. I do not like the eggs, but my hairr is much happier without chemistry!

I know what you mean. Somehow people are more content with putting gunk in their hair
"It's a natural product, so it can't possibly work. I'd rather have synthetic and processed chemicals, thank you "

Boy did I make a mistake. I'm glad I didn't use much of it, but at the local drug store I got some of Palmer's Coconut Oil conditioner. I totally read over two major bad ingredients: Mineral oil and petrolatum. Especially petrolatum. What horrible things to put into a hair product, or in any product! It makes the hair really greasy and it's almost impossible to wash out.

So is the marketing mechanism :') On the side was a little text advertising the complete product range. There's probably a deep cleansing shampoo too.

Yeah. I had to use shampoo, but it didn't do much. Got any tips on a homemade cleansing rinse?

By the by, is that tea rinse you talk about... I don't know, the image I have in my mind is that you're setting a cold cup of tea, and then pouring it over your head. How do you go about rinsing your hair with tea?

One CUP of tea? More like a pitcher, my cup (hip-length hair). I do use it diluted, though, half tea, half water and just pour it, as you guessed, cooled, over my head. That's it.

Some people think apple cider vinegar rinses to be cleansing, too, or wash their hair with baking soda, a harsh method to treat hair to, imo.
Perhaps you do not need an extra cleanser other than regular shampoo if you skip products with mineral oils/silicones and such?

Haha, I knew my mind image was inaccurate Okay then, I think I'll try it out. Will any tea work though? I have some fruity teas here. Smells nice, but.. Will it be effective?
Yeah.. I'll certainly skip those oily/'silicony' products. My hair actually got more normal again, thankfully.

Hmm, you know, I've never had experience with oil treatments for hair. Isn't oil hard to wash out of the hair?

Jeez, I'm such a man. I don't know these things But at least I'm learning, right?

I do not know if fruit tea has any special properties that might benefit your hair. If you have light blonde hair, it might stain, though.
Try it out, can't hurt.

My hair is like baby hair at the moment, due to increase in raw food. It's so soft
