Default pain at base of spine/tailbone

Hey guys,

I'm not sure if this pain is from wrestling or doing powercleans, or this new stretch i started doing, but i'll describe it as best i can.

Basically the pain is in the base of my spine where my back meets my ass, right in that exact spot. Feels like it's right at the base of my tailbone, right above the poop chute. It isn't a throbbing pain or anything, it only hurts at certain times. If i straighten up my posture, push out my ass and arch my back, that's when it hurts the most.

Also, you know the muscle or whatever you use to cut off your piss? when i sit straight and flex that muscle, that really seems to aggravate it alot. I've tried just aggravating it as little as possible, and that didn't seem to help it get any better, so now i'm doing ashtanga yoga to see if that helps but so far it seems to have made it worse.

I'm really not sure how to proceed from here, but this is really pissing me off because i can't sprawl or do much of anything when i wrestle and i find it's really hampering my performance.

any advice would be much appreciated, on this injury in specific or just tailbone pain in general.

thanks!

ps...the stretch i mentioned earlier that i think may have caused it is basically just hanging from a chinup bar for as long as i can, letting my legs dangle and taking deep breaths. but i doubt this has caused it, i just mention it because the pain started around the same time i started the stretch....but i'm pretty sure the injury was caused from getting slammed during a meet.

Does a specific muscle ache down there or all of them in the area? How deep is the pain? Right on the surface? Can you feel your tailbone move? Any grinding feeling?

Sounds like you just pulled a muscle, really. But then again I've never fully broken a bone before down there so I can't really say it is or isn't busted. I can relate to some of the pain though...

I recall one time I lost a bet with a friend and the condition of the loss was that she could kick me in the ass. I couldn't sit for a week, could barely walk, and going to the bathroom was damn near excruciating.

I guess that's what I get for making such a bet with a soccer player!

nope no grinding...it feels more like a deep bruised feeling i would say. It doesnt throb or hurt when i sit down, it hurts when i arch my back or flex the muscle that controls your urination. I'm really baffled as to what this is, because it's been almost a month and i've seen no signs of it improving, if anything it's gotten worse...pissing me off though, really.

A month?! Go see a doctor soon.

You may have strained/sprained a muscle (or even hair-line fractured something) and are just making it worse by pretending it'll go away if you ignore it. They might not x-ray you, but having a doctor poke around and give you a second opinion will definitely help.
