Default Healthy Recipes

Not limited to Raw (or even Vegan), but should be healthy and nutritious. Share your favourites, or anything you stumble upon and think Yum!

Here's what I had for lunch today:

Salad Dressing

1 avocado
1/4 cucumber
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Salt/Pepper
Oregano

Blended with about a cup of water.

The Salad of C's

Curly lettuce
Celery
Cucumber
Cabbage (red) - shredded
Carrot - grated

First time I've tried the dressing, and very nice though I made mine a bit too lemony.

The below amounts are estimated - if you do not get exact proportions, it does not matter. Every herb serves a purpose.

Herbed Scrambled Eggs:
  • 4 organic free range eggs
  • Pinch of Thyme, Rosemary, Tarragon - Ground at time of preparation to ensure freshness
  • 1/8 tsp. Cumin or Caraway seeds - Ground
  • Couple good turns of black pepper
  • 1 tbsp. Nama Shoyu or other real Tamari Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 onion, diced
  • 1/2 tomato, diced OR 2 tbsp. water

Scramble in coconut butter. Spread a pinch of any of the above herbs AFTER cooking as well as BEFORE for stronger flavor. Onions add bite, tomatoes add moisture and texture. Tarragon adds sweetness without sugar. You won't need any ketchup with this recipe (thanks to the tamari). I like eating this with three slices sprouted grain toast and coconut butter and perhaps an avocado as a large breakfast on occasion.

This is a divine recipe in terms of flavor. I'm sure it can be adapted to a raw nut pate. In fact, maybe I'll try that.

I think you can use ginger sauce, or some people use fruit juice (lemon or pineapple). Those eggs do sound really good - shame my partner doesn't like coconut or I would make them for him.

I had thai slaw today (there's a definite cabbage theme going on at the moment :P)

I made a ton, so I can take it to work with me.

The recipe is here: The Daily Raw Cafe: Thai Slaw (4 servings)

I used a mix of sesame and chilli oil instead of olive oil though.

The result was stunning, I love it! Can't believe I've been eating coleslaw all this time.

Use olive oil or even butter for Pete's sake. Haha.

I have used EV Organic olive oili and free range butter on occasion when nothing else is around. They all work. I think coconut is the healthiest and the most heat stable (no free radicals when heated up). And it's flavorful, and works conjointly with the tamari.

Don't deprive yourself of herbs delite.

Cabbage is cheap. I might have to try that one.

I tried the herb eggs this morning and they were good. I may deduct the onions or try dried onions in the future. The cumin flavor really comes through. You know.. I bet Bragg's amino acids could be subbed for the soy sauce. Somehow I just don't think ginger or lemon would be quite the same.

This is coincidental. I just made up a salad dressing tonight and it is similar to yours! I was out of salad dressing tonight. I make my own, and usually keep some around. I am trying to really cut down on the amount of nuts and oils in my diet, especially since I can tell I have gained a bit of weight with all the nut-based Christmas goodies I was eating, even though they were raw. ( I freak out if I lose my six pack! ) So since I couldn’t find a salad dressing in any of my recipe books without either a bunch of nuts or a cup of olive oil, I came up with this one tonight and it was a hit! The only fat is from the avocado and one Tbsp of coconut oil, so it’s a great low-fat option. Plus coconut oil is a medium-chain triglyceride which actually helps burn fat!

Here is the recipe. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
1 Avocado
1/4 cup raw honey
1 stick celery
1/2 large cucumber
Juice of one large lemon
2 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
1 cup Young Thai coconut water
1 Tbsp coconut oil
Dash of Celtic Sea Salt to taste
Purified Water

Preparation:
Blend all ingredients together until creamy, adding more purified water as needed for thinner consistency. Has a pretty soft green color.

I have more healthy raw recipes on my blog at Defiant Health!.

Default Tasty Organic Eggs

I'm glad I found your post Fullcrum!

I've been eating way more eggs instead of red meat lately and I can't wait to try this recipe out for lunch for a bit of variety. I'm getting a little bored with straight up eggs with bell peppers lol

Default Tried The Herb Eggs

I'm back now after trying the eggs. AWESOME!

I had to chuck my soya sauce though because it was full of MSG. I also used half the avocado straight up and mashed up the other half to put on my toast. I also sprinkled some basil, pepper and salt on the toast and avo and it tasted great.

I feel really good after this meal. Thanks Fullcrum
