Default I could sleep forever

If I get 3 hours of sleep and go to work, I feel fine throughout the day.
If I get 4.5 hours of sleep and go to work, I feel fine throughout the day.
If I get 7.5 hours of sleep and go to work, I feel fine throughout the day.

If it's my day off, I could literally sleep ALL day if I have nothing better to do. Normal?

Default Jealous...

i dunno about normal, but MAN! if i could sleep with 3 hrs and still function w/o any health issues or bad side effects, I'd do it!! you have plenty of time to sleep when you're dead... why sleep more than you need for optimal performance.

curious... does exercise (30min - 1hr of cardio for example) affect your need for rest? how many days can you go on 3hrs of sleep without getting tired anytime of the day?

i'm jealous if you can maintain alertness after only 3h of sleep for 2+ consecutive days w/o having to make up for any sleep deprivation!

It could be normal, if you get more than one 3/4.5 hour night during the week. Maybe your body is trying to catch up on sleep it missed during the work week?

What happens if you get 7.5 hours of sleep a night every night during the week, do you still want to sleep all day on your day(s) off?

Default it's normal

it's normal if you are still young, or that you subdivide your sleeping to minor naps all throughout the day ^^.

I'm 20 years old, and lift weights/run twice a week. I never feel like I need any extra sleep because of it (I may be physically more tired, but mentally I'm fine -- and generally too restless to sleep anyway). I've never tried to go consecutive days (purposefully) on low amounts of sleep, but I doubt it's something I could maintain. The only side effect I've noticed is I begin to crash inbetween noon and 3:00PM. If I can make it past that, I quickly bounce back.

Yes and no. While I'm still in bed, I'll continue to want to sleep. If I give in, I'll wake up every hour or two and re-evaluate. Once I'm actually out of bed, I feel fine though. I COULD sleep all day, but I never do (except last week when I had a nasty hang-over from mixing drugs).

I read about free-running sleep and just thought it was strange that while I only NEED small amounts of sleep, I COULD sleep as long as I'm permitted to. It's seems like the body should eventually just be like "okay, enough is enough!" But I seem to lack that.

sounds like it's time to experiment to find out what your limits are. if you could go on 3hrs of sleep and power nap between 12-3 (or even less) w/o affecting your schedule, that would be good. hmmm... come to think of it, if you were to do that, then that's about 6h of sleep a day - which is ... ORDINARY. NOW, if you can sleep 3h a day (consecutive for a week) and not need recoup, then that would be perty good... even better, if you could sustain that schedule w/o any bad side effects.

would be interested to find out how things work out for you w/the minimal sleep.

sleep well!

ive noticed that i can get by on a lot less sleep ONLY if i am doing things that i really like and love to do. the second i start doing something i dont like to do, i get really tired. this is an important thing to keep in mind. the more you are doing things you love, likely the less you will want to sleep.
unless you love sleeping.

i think that everyone has days where they want to sleep all day. sometimes its fun to do this. sometimes the mind just needs a big rest.

I've been pulling almost-all-nighters for this entire month, some days I go on no sleep, other days I sleep for about 3 hours, and when I do sleep for real I sleep about 10-14 hours if I don't have anything urgent to do. (I'm in a very relaxed period right now)

Either one extreme or the other.

I have SO much energy! It freaks me out!
