Are there detox symptoms to going alkaline as well? I've been reading in this forum that there are detox symptoms to going raw, but wondered about going alkaline. I've been perty consistent (80% at LEAST) since this Monday about staying alkaline. I have avoided most acid forming food -EXCEPT for oatmeal twice this week and a bite of bread or meat (chicken) on 2 occasions... ANYWAY, so i've noticed yesterday (last nite) and ALL OF TODAY for the most part feeling perty IRRITATED.. i mean... like... i haven't felt this way since i stopped running for about 2wks... i felt like i was gonna jump outta my skin for a few days! so that's how i feel now... VERY IRRITABLE! i'm KINDA excited about it since I'm aware of the detox symptoms. it means CHANGE (and good change at that)! my skin has been terrible over the past 5yrs.. out of the blue i got these welts or something like boils errupting from my skin starting with my upper arms/shoulders (like big zits)... then started up in my legs.. 5yrs later, i have the battle scars from scratching of them (they were itchy and i'd scratch at nite without knowing). it even started to spread to my back and torso and ass... <sigh> anyway... since running 3+wks ago, my skin has begun to clear up some in my arms. i don't have new skin issues - but unfortunately, the scars from previous scratching and eruptions are there for the world to see. all the skin doctors in the world (ok, maybe not in the world - just 4 so far), just prescribed both steroid, non-steroid topicals for me.. i took them for a while, but it's like putting a bandaid on a wound that's not treated / cleaned properly... it doesn't solve the problem. intuitively, i always knew that it was a matter of my diet... but i never really thot about going raw or alkaline... i just thot maybe i should eat more veggies and less meat and spices (intuitively)... and look at that... i find that that's part of the diet that i should be on to get my skin back to healthy. i'm encouraged to see that a healthier diet alkaline/raw will help improve skin, energy, etc. so about detox symptoms... i'm definitely feeling irritable... hoping that i'll get over that soon... like i said... feeling so on edge is a bit nerve racking! and doesn't help when you have a 3yr old kid who knows how to throw tantrums quite expertly now... looking forward to better health and much more in 2009 - just around the corner! |

is feeling light headed considered normal for detox symptoms. i had just finished a snack (salad and some potatoes and rice - i cheated a li'l)... and about 40mins after, i began to feel a bit light headed. I've never felt like that before, but i'm wondering if it could be that i'm not getting enough calories compared to my "old way" of eating? this is what i had yesterday: 1475 Calories (Goal is 2159 to 2409 cals) 55.46g of Protein (Goal is 139 to 239 grams) 176.3g of Carbs (Goal is 182 to 274 grams) 66.22g of Fat i'm 188lbs and 5'11" i shouldn't feel light headed right? haven't had any headaches or any other symptoms (except for that irritability over the past 2 days). thanks for reading... p.s. my light headedness only lasted for about <30mins... ?
