Default How to lower body fat % on a raw diet?

I know to live on raw foods you need to eat lots of fruit, which contains a lot of sugar and everything i've read says that you need to eliminate fruit to drop any body fat.

What do I do?

I'm not a guy so i'm aiming for about 10-12% which is about 14% drop from what i'm at now. How long should I take to safely burn that off? Whats realistic? And how do I get enough protein without logging down 13 green smoothies a day and no fruit? I'm so confused and fustrated, I've been trying for 2 years to do this with no avail.

My decision was just to f*cking do it, and worry about "nutrient deficiency", if such a thing exists, as the issue came up. I'm not dead yet, anyhow. And there are such things as fruitarians, who also don't drop instantly dead.

I think most food science is too clogged with misinformation to be useful. Personal reports of results, and personal advice based on real human experience, is what I trust.

I'd like to get into science and really go all the way on theories like the "calorie" and "vitamins" sometime, but I think half an understanding is worse than none... until then I'll go with simplicity, which is intuition, listening to the body, and experience.

I think you're making a huge mistake in thinking you need to eliminate fruit to lower bodyfat.

The kind of sugar in fruit is completely different than the junk used in sweets and other processed foods.

Check out Jason Vale - the "Juice Master", he kicks ass. His book "Slim 4 Life" is absolutely superb, incredibly uplifting and inspiring.

Are you on simply a raw diet, or a raw vegan diet? I have shakes with a couple bananas and 5 raw eggs at least once a day. The bananas can also be replaced with other fruit or even ice cream (a friend gets raw cream to make his own).

After several months of eating 12-18 raw eggs daily I had my cholesterol checked and found the only effect was high levels of good cholesterol. When I had my wisdom teeth removed recently I stopped having the shakes for a couple months to minimize chance of infection, and now I'm back to 5-10 eggs per day (I'd never eat this many cooked eggs).

Assuming you're on a well balanced diet (whether it's raw or not), the other half of the equation for health/fitness would be exercise. Assuming you've worked the diet part of it for a good 2yrs (and may have tweaked that as much as anyone can by diet alone), maybe the other half (exercise) can use some tweaking. I just started tweaking my diet to go more alkaline, and I am also running daily.. the two together get me results a lot faster than one or the other... and also get me to my fitness goals sooner!

how's the exercise regimen part of the equation, dice?

continued success to you...

Exercise:
Adv. Ballet 2 hours twice a week
HITT 2wice a week (10 minutes cardio until heart rate is 175-180 alternated with strength work)
Then I usually do 1. a couple days running 3-4K or 2. bikram yoga

so thats a good week, i switch it up. I do have lazy weeks, but over the long term im pretty consistent.

To lose body fat faster, you want to lower the fat content of your diet. Fruit and greens should be the main components of your diet. Fruit is your friend.

If you drop the fat too low and start having adverse reactions like dry skin, you can edge the fat up slightly.

Steve, do you eat any time you want, or do you avoid food after a certain time?
