Default Raw- nuts and seeds

I'm going to trial raw for a week. Wondered about nuts and seeds- is that raw? I read about how cashews are heated etc.

Also what about honey?

It's not a vegan raw trial.

well. hard to answer ;-) Most nuts are toasted, unless (usually ) they say : RAW.
The only unpasterized and raw almonds are by : LivingNutz.

Also, besides the question : if they raw, another question is : ARE THEY RANCID sitting for many weeks in plastic containers..
that is even more important.
By the way - the nuts and seeds are toasted to cover the smell and taste of rancidity!

terrible, ha? ;-)

I would advise something else : If you want to give it a shut of a week...Why not forget about all the heavy stuff ( nuts, seeds ( and go for greens only???
Blended, juiced greens and maybe few fruits!

We all ended up at certain point with heavy stomachs full of nuts ( overeating ).
They are very acidic and one should always add them to salad or follow them with a green juice.

Give yourself a green feast instead of nut/seed !

I recommend you treat yourself to an opportunity to gorge on greens. Enjoy as you consume quarts of homegrown wheatgrass juice.

I guarantee you'll never be sick again .

There are many truly raw nuts & seeds which you can find out about either through other websites/forums or by questioning the source asking how they're shelled, heat temp, etc. There are other sources besides LivingNutz for almonds. Cashews-make sure they're handshelled. Long term, honey usually isn't the best choice because it's similar to sugar in that it can create or enhance certain illnesses. It's healthier than sugar, if you get a raw organic one. But other sweeteners are better options such as agave or yacon syrup. Even better is using fresh or dried fruit.

I would not agree witg suggestion about agave.

Honey , if its raw is the perfect food.
Everyone should observe himself what is the reaction for honey.
My grandpa was a beekeeper and there is a study - sorry, not handy, that the most healthy people , who lived the longest are beekeeperss and people from cold climates.

Everyone should check how he/she reacts, honey is a medicine and this whole agave thing is pretty confusing.
I used to use agave also - yes.
The problem with it is that - it is not usually raw and spikes the sugar as other sugars, because it does not have any fiber.
The lack of fiber is an issue.

Listen to : The Truth About Sugar

Anyways, agave is disputable.
Some dried fruit is preserved with sulfur dioxide - best to avoid that and get dried fruit with no preservatives.
The purpose of drying is to reduce the water content, and as water is a good vehicle for oxygen, oxygen levels may be reduced.

From my own experience and of many many others, agave can be consumed and they still can get rid of or not have issues with diabetes, candida, etc. This is not true for honey. I'm not saying honey doesn't have great benefits for some. But it also causes many problems for those that are ill in any way or if too much is consumed. You can get the benefits from other sources if needed such as bee pollen, which isn't a sugar. There is also a brand of raw agave that people believe is much better than much of what's available.

Quote from diabetes specialist: "Honey is quite similar to sugar, so there is no real advantage from substituting honey for sugar. Unlike sugar, honey provides some minerals — but only in trace amounts." Others feel honey is good. Just like with anything, you need to research the products, read testimonials and experiment yourself to find what works for you.

Sundried, organic fruit is available without any additives. Just like with nuts, there aren't a lot of sources.

That is why I said : Check how you react ( honey).
For me : honey is a perfect sweetener as well as complex food.

Agave might have same effect on people like pure sugar.

It all depends.
