I've been a smoker since i was like 15 years old, im now 27 years old. So i've been smoking for about 12 years. estimated : I smoked about 21,900 cigs. I smoked about 1095 packs of cigs I payed 4.50 per pack that means $4,927.5 in total. but most important i've truely cared about humanity, our enviorment but after more reading this Tobacco — Global Issues i think its time i really stop smoking. How can i say i care about this world and help ruin it, not to mention i am ruining my health. So today im starting i put the patch on and some really strick self - disapline, i have to stop today not tomorrow not after this cig or this pack it has to stop now. So im asking for support some ideas on how how to detour my mind from smoking, I did notice one thing about smoking i tend to do it after i eat, and when im bored. im gonna keep updates each day about my progress and stuff. Wish me luck and any prayers: Maybe its just best to stop cold turkery....but anyways i'll write down each day in this area about my progress and if i fail i'll read that site and remind myself how important it is to stop. btw please check out that link for any other smokers, and join me |

Hi, Oh mine 12 years, that's a long time. Good for you! I hope you will make it. It's not easy to stop. A lot of the member of my familly struggle with the cigarette. We know that cigarette are made with asphalte. So, if you take all the asphalte and put it all together. You went a far far away. That's a lot of KM or miles. bye Hugo

There is a new drug called Chantrex, I believe, that is supposed to make it easier to quit. It's a prescription, so you would have to talk to your physician about it, but I think that most doctors are pretty quick to prescribe it since it helps with the addiction. Good luck, and don't give up, no matter how many unsuccessful attemps you make. Just keep trying, and believe that the next one will be successful!

I quit 7 years ago after smoking for many years. I put a patch on and that really helped me. I also had 2 friends at work who really supported and encouraged me. Could you find 2 friends at work and let them know you are quitting? I had tried the ear clip and the gum before and I wasn't able to quit. I am so glad I did. I always thought that even if I could quit, I would always want a cigarette. That is not the case. I have no desire for a cigarette at all. Every once in a while (once a year?) I think about it and it passes in a few seconds. I am around smokers all the time and it doesn't bother me. I wish I had quit when I was your age. You don't need cigarettes and they don't do anything good for you. Smoking is just a terrible addiction and you don't really realize it until you quit. If I can quit smoking, you can too. Good luck! Don't give up. |

One more thing that I forgot to mention. It doesn't matter how you quit. You are not less of a person because you use the patch, gum, ear clip, Chantrex or any other method. Going "cold turkey" doesn't make you a better person. The important thing is that you quit smoking. I used the patch for about two months and that was it. I quit and haven't smoked for over 7 years. I am so glad I don't smoke anymore.

Try replacing the habit of picking up the stick with some other actions like deep breathing or crossing your arm. (Anything you can think of.) Try to change it gradually and most importantly, if you fail, don't ever give up. See what is wrong with your strategy and keep going at it again. Good luck! Vincent Personal Development Blogger
