Default Raw & Food Combining

I'm going to be going raw at the first of the year. I've tried it before & loved it. I want to do it right this time, so I'm starting to make lists, save for a good blender, etc.. now. The first time around I got stuck on the food combining. I'm not going 100% at first I'll probably have a cooked vegetarian meal every night for the first week and gradually decreasing as I get more comfortable with the evening meal preparation. It will be a vegan meal, without soy products either. Pretty much grains & veggies. As I understand it, you shouldn't have fruit after a cooked meal b/c of fermentation. Also, non fruit should not be eaten before 1/2 or so after consuming fruit. Fruit should also be eaten alone. Melons should always be eaten alone. Everything else confuses me, like when can I/should I eat raw nuts? Can I eat dried fruit with fresh? I like eating nuts & fruit together, is that a no no? How strict are these food combining rules to the overall diet. I do not want to make up my own rules for it. I want to be able to keep this as a lifestyle, so I would like to start out on the right path. Any advice, suggestions would be appreciated.

I havent heard of those rules. Going raw simply means eating foods that are not cooked, processed, or artificial.

What are your goal(s) with your diet?

Do you want to do raw or raw vegan?

What do you feel is the thing keeping you from going raw now?

You won't die if you combine poorly. All you'll get is bloating and gas, big deal. Why not try out what works for you and what doesn't? With some self-experimentation you'll learn very fast what your body can deal with and what it cannot deal with.

I don't think it's a good idea to want to "do it right". There's no right and wrong about diet, your body is unique and what works for you doesn't work for someone else. Plus, this will change over time. I used to be able to eat big mixed fruit salads with many different fruits, and now I can't anymore. On the other hand, I have no problem mixing sugar with fat or fruit with veggies.

Why don't you want to invent your own rules? If you like combining fruit and nuts and have no problem with it, who cares if others think it's bad?

My opinion: there is no right path.
