Default Raw root veggies

Does anyone here eat root vegetables raw? It calls to me, but I don't know if it's safe...

I ate a piece of cocoyam (malanga)? I don't know what its called. It's purple inside. Anyways, I ate a piece raw, and it was yummy. >.< Is it safe?

Most root veggies are OK to eat raw. - I eat carrots, turnips, parsnips and sweet potatoes(the orange ones) raw without side effects - I have eaten potato raw although i gather too much of this can give you a stomach ache and you have to make sure there is no green on the potato.

Cheers

Though zucchini isn't a "root" it's similar and tastes awesome raw. Spiralize it and make pasta.

I have sweet potatoes. They're pinkish though, not orange. Are those okay? If potatoes give you stomach aches (when eating too much), doesn't that mean that it's not such a great idea to eat them raw at all? O_o What happens if I eat a potato that has green? >.<
*sigh* Thanx J. I'll try the sweet ones, even though they're pink. *blessings*

I eat raw carrots all the time. I actually much prefer them raw. I would imagine it's safe to eat the other root vegetables raw, although I too would watch out for green spots on potatos, and I wouldn't eat something that gave me stomach aches.

If we go solely from Raw ideology, are humans even supposed to eat potatoes? I think I heard somewhere that they are in the same category as grains and need to be avoided. I don't eat them anyway as they're too starchy for me, but am curious nonetheless.

Yum, raw pasta.

Most don't eat regular potatoes raw, though a few make dehydrated chips. Sweet is fine. If you have any problems, maybe try soaking it first. Can make it in a soup, dessert, pasta, chips.

Potato's are part of the deadly nightshade family...I wouldn't eat them raw tbh.
