Alright, I felt the need to post this and commit officially so I don't change my mind and crack. I started today, last time I ate was around 6pm yesterday, and I will not eat until 6pm 16-10-2008. I will consume only water and one cup green tea daily. I will continue to take my vitamins. Any advice or support is appreciated ! |

First, I would say cut the green tea out, unless it's decaf. Caffeine is not good for your system while fasting. 2nd, vitamin intake should probably be reduced, and make sure you crush it up and mix it with water. If you swallow the vitamin tablets whole, your stomach will not be very happy with you.

If you want to fast; fast. So no green tea and no vitamins. Get as much rest as possible and make sure you are in a safe environment and don't risk any emotional stress. Do you have any guidance or someone who checks up on you? Do you have an extremely clear plan how to break the fast or someone who helps you with it? |

If you're gonna water fast, fast. So no vitamins or green tea. Then slowly introduce green juices and lemon juices after the 7 days, then increase the amount of green juices until it's more like a green feast, then introduce strong juices like ginger and various herbs, then introduce a little sweet juice, and then you might want to go back onto solid fruit and vegetables if you want. |

Well, things were going fine til today. I told my mom what I was doing and she said because of my age (16) I was still growing and it could potentially be very dangerous to fast for more than 3 days. So I guess I have to break my fast tonight. I was thinking of a glass of orange juice. Any suggestions or advice for breaking it? I'll do a proper one in a couple of years. |

orange juice can be quiet harsh on the stomach. If you decide on orange juice, make sure it is from an orange you squeeze yourself and dilute with water. (not from a carton!) To break your fast I'd start with a small amount of fresh apple juice or better cucumber and celery juice. I think your mum is right, 3 days is enough for now. And 3 days is still a proper fast. |
