I have been thinking about buying a juicer and i have been reading alot about them online. When i did a video search for the green star juicer, it came up with this video YouTube - Make 2 cups RAW juice & clean juicer in less than 45 seconds Basically, it states, you can make juice in a blender, by using a powerful blender, then dumping the mixture into a nut bag strainer and wringing it out. What i am curious to know is: Has anyone tried this? Do you know if it is as good/better/worse for you then drinking juice from a juicer? What if any would the differences be? Any comments are welcome! Adrienne |

Hi Adrienne, I've seen the video-it's an excellent one. Many raw foodists like that method. I wish I did because I would rather own one less appliance. I think it's a matter of preference. Many find it faster. I prefer using a juicer. There's different theories on which is better. Just like different theories on whether you should consume smoothies or juices. I believe you should have both whenever possible, though there are times when consuming just juices is best. There are also different types of juicers, some that produce better quality juices than others. The quality of blending/straining is suppose to be less because the juice oxides quicker and you need to add water. I think it's best to find which method gets you to juice often. I tried using the really good quality juicers, but the amount of prep and cleanup made me dread it and then I didn't do it. So I use a juicer that is quicker and juice almost every day instead. |

If i can keep down appliances, i prefer to do that. But if the quality is significant, then i would do thru the extra work for a juicer. Thanks for the info. Adrienne | |

What exactly is being strained out? I have heard from some people that a Blender is better because you retain all of the vegetable and fruit fiber. But I have heard that juicing is better for various reasons as well. Can anyone post any info on this? |

I have used this method with a regular blender (not this vitamix model) and it worked. No pulp in there. The juice was tasty and had no pulp in it. But I am not yet convinced, that it is a good thing to drink juices if you could just eat the whole thing. But I haven't researched that in depth. |
