Default Are nuts and seeds allowed on a 100% raw food diet?

Out of curiosity, are nuts and seeds allowed on a 100% raw food diet?

If they're raw, of course

It can be tricky to find raw nuts, but if you find some, of course you can eat them.

I imagine that nuts and seeds are almost essential on the raw diet. I sure could use more as a vegan for their beneficial natural fats (I've stopped eating oil from non-natural sources, i.e. oil that is extracted and doesn't come with a complete unit. Don't know how long I'll keep this up, but oil seems to not agree with me, so I'm experimenting.)

I think if you can't get 100% raw nuts, in the interest of your health, aim for being "high-raw" (or "HRAV": high raw, all vegan), like Kristan Suzanne:

"High Raw"

On this site, we recognize the value of incrementalism, and we're aware that all people are different, have different priorities, and that we're all at different places along our journey through life. So while we appreciate (and often personally strive for) being 100% Raw (at least most of the time), we know that sometimes that doesn't happen, despite the clear health benefits. We therefore embrace the notion of what is often called the "High Raw" diet, which typically refers to an all vegan diet (no meat, dairy, or eggs) that is 75-80% Raw or more. That said, we fully support 100% Raw Foodism (see below).

I like that idea, and it makes sense to me, since it allows you to stay healthy. You aim for raw, but if you can't hit it, you at least don't go hungry. Vegans tend to be more limited here (in a sense) since it's generally vegan or nothing, anything else not really being vegan (although I think "mostly vegan" is still admirable in a world where "utter crap" is the default ).

The reason I asked was because I currently consume flaxseed, and all of the vegetables that I eat are frozen, but I pour hot water onto them just to make them chewable; I do not cook/boil them. The only food that I eat that is not considered "raw" is the small white beans that I boil for about an hour and a half before eating them; I eat them mainly for their protein, but they also contain some omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The flaxseed that I eat is very high in omega-3 and very low in omega-6 fatty acids.

I do not consume nuts because their ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids is incredibly high. I have heard that a healthy ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids should be 4:1 or less.

If you want to know, walnuts also have a lot of omega-3 fatty acids, so if you like nuts and are worried about omega 6mega 3 balance, eat walnuts.
