Default Nutritional typing question: How do you measure the amounts of protien, fat, carbs?

Nutritional typing, I try to eat 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fat. But what am I supposed to be measuring? Calories? Grams? I tried both and I'm not sure, I just know that I ate over an hour ago and feel worse than before I ate.

Default either, but grams is easier

To get the ratio, mathematically it shouldn't matter. But grams, since it's a smaller value should be easier to calculate.

Default

I do ounces -- 2 ounces of whole protein and 4 ounces of carbs every 2 to 3 hours. A couple of tablespoons of oil per day. As much fruit and vegetables as I want, but sugary ones like pineapple only at the end of the day.

(and the odd serving of ice cream when necessary!)
