I have been trying the raw diet in my own rather non-rigourous way over the last couple of weeks and have got some real benefits from it. I still have a freezer full of food that needs cooking to eat and I have a few social pressures that keep me ingesting some non-raw food, but nontheless I feel it has been a success. I have been wondering whether it might have a beneficial effect on acne? My reasoning is that I think that high blood sugar might manifest itself in the eccrine glands and this might encourage the growth of bacteria there. You can follow my reasoning in more detail on my blog about the effect of diet on acne if you are interested. I don't suffer from acne myself, so I was wondering if anyone who does has tried the raw diet, and if it affected their skin? I can't find the post at the moment - but I am sure I read at least one account on here of someone who had gone raw and found no beneficial effects on his acne. Is there anyone else who can comment on this? |

Whenever I go a full day on cooked food, my back pimples, a heritage from the males of my mother's side, become more active, itchy, etc. This can happen hours after eating a heavy meal. On the other hand, hours after ingesting a green smoothie, they inactivate and shrink. In fact, after two days of mostly raw, you would not know they were there unless you saw them (they are no longer bumps). I, however, cannot conclusively tell you that raw foods full of green leafy vegetables will cure your acne, because I cannot go raw long enough (a month maybe) to see the effects. |

Thanks Fulcrum, that is really interesting. I have this idea that spots can be formed by a sudden influx of sugar into the blood, so your experience fits in perfectly with my theory. Lauxa's experience doesn't fit in though. |

There aren't many scientific theories out there that associate diet with acne though. I used to think that chocolate would give me pimps and zits when I was in my teens, but later a realized that it was just that period (probably hormonal stuff). The diet had very little impact on the acne condition. |

Brazillian, you are wrong. Chocolate breaks you out in the version most people buy because it's loaded with milk and sugar. Cocoa itself is actually VERY healthy. The primary food involved in acne breakouts is sugar. Basically, if you are eating a low GI index diet for a long time acne will almost assuredly become a thing of the past. As long as your also staying away from lactose, gluten, soy, etc. Try not eating any products with any sort of refined processed sugar or sugar analogues like high fructose corn syrup. Do it for one month. You will see results. |

Boa tarde, Brazilian. I used to think that diet was unrelated to acne as well. Most scientists and dermatologists working in the field think there is no link. In fact I only changed my mind last Friday night. It doesn't necessarily mean that eating chocolate will make everyone spotty. It has never had that effect on me. But I have come up with a theory that temporary high sugar content in your blood can inflame acne lesions. |

The only reason why I'm on a raw diet is that it seems to be the only way to curb the acne I've had on and off for the last several years. I assume my body doesn't like cooked food or that I was deficient in something I get a lot of when I eat raw. A great side effect of this diet is that it raises my vibration and makes doing my reading work a lot easier. |

Hey Anna. I actually got a free mini reading from you. You said I was good at claircognizance. Just wondering, but what's that tablet you talk about on your site? My ability is written on it? I've noticed that my (rather unpracticed and paltry) intuition ability seems sharper on this diet as well. Quote:

That said, it is also what is going on in your head. Are you stressful? are you going through something painful? Thoughts have a direct impact on the body. It has been proven scientifically over and over again. The pharma industry hides this as it is not in their best interest that this is revealed.

Are you referring to the Akashic Record? There is more info on that on my FAQ page. It's basically a giant etheric database of information. Many psychics access it (often unconsciously) when they're doing a reading. All information I am given about a soul when doing a reading comes from the Akashic Record.
