Well I've been seeing a lot of raw food talk on here lately, and I've been meaning to do a raw experiment forever but have been busy... for the record, I've been interested in raw foodism for about a year now. :P I'm really excited because I finally have the means to do a whole month raw where as before I was kind of struggling when it came to eating mostly raw for even a week. I definitely think this is one of the best diet/lifestyles ever, but I don't think being 100% vegan is essential... I think after this month is up I'll probably stay close to 100% raw vegan and occasionally eat some fish or eggs to get some of those nutrients in that are hard to get in a raw vegan diet. I've read The Sunfood Diet Success System by David Wolfe and that really inspired me and Steve has definitely gave me a lot of inspiration as well. When he talks about how much energy he has it kind of makes me jealous... I'm 16 years old so I feel very fortunate to be able to do this all on my own at such early time in my life. For a while I was saying "ahh.. I'll go raw when I move out." But why put off til tomorrow what you can do today?! I'll be frequently updating my blog and may even do some videos... I'm really anxious! I'll be posting about how I feel, detox symptoms (if any), what I'm eating (w/ pics), etc.. So you can guys can check out my site (in my sig) to keep up with how I'm doing raw, and I'll be posting in this thread as well. Thank you Steve and friends

Hi Eruso, Good for you, starting on raw foods at 16! I'm considerably older than you and started eating vegetarian about 30 years ago, with several trials of raw foods during the ensuing years. I agree with you, David Wolfe's book is inspiring, and if you ever get a chance to see him live, don't miss it. He's a dynamic speaker and a nice guy. I'm in the midst of my own 30-day raw foods trial. Today is day 8, and I feel great. You can read about my experiences at my blog if you like. Looking forward to your posts here about your experiences. Best wishes to you as you start your healthy raw food adventure! Thanks Mary Jane! I've been so tired the last couple days and have been laying around the house. I feel so out of it. Looking forward to having more energy. Have you met David? I want to meet him! :P And I'll definitely check out your blog. I love reading about people's raw experiments. They're very inspiring.

Hi Eruso, When you say you've been "so tired the last couple days" I'm assuming you've been on raw foods for two days? That's how I feel whenever I start on raw foods. For me, it goes away around the 3rd day. Hang in there! It's so worth it. Yes, I have met David. I had the opportunity to be part of a small group of folks that he led on a wild food walk through the back country in San Diego County. At the end of our hike, the hosts served us dehydrated flax crackers and loads of small avocados that grew there. It was great fun. I hope you get a chance to meet him some day. Mary Jane |

Yes I've been raw 3 days now, recording my progress on my website. I felt so lousy today. Wasn't very hungry, just thirsty. Is that normal? I'm gonna tough it out though, I really want to feel the benefits of being raw... Awesome that you met David btw Here's to a better tomorrow

It's normal to feel thirsty. Your body is cleansing and toxins are being eliminated. Drinking water will help flush them out. Hang in there... you're doing great. One of these days--hopefully tomorrow--you'll feel more energetic. |
