Does anyone know a good brand of Maca to order online? I tried finding it at Whole Foods and they didn't have it. I don't want some BS brand, which you often find with "supplements." Thanks!!

I just finished a bag of Maca from Navitas Naturals, originally purchased via Amazon: Amazon.com: Navitas Naturals Organic Raw Maca Powder Incan Superfood, 16-Ounce Bag: Health & Personal Care I'm not exactly sure how to evaluate maca because this is the first and only bag I've ever had, but I'd buy this one again. I blend it into shakes. |

Oh my god! I can't wait to buy maca. A girl showed me how it increased her butt-roundness (mine is already pretty good lol) and breast size. Also, it gives energy which is really important for me. The only thing is I am afraid that it will increase the severity of my PMS symptoms. |

Maca-nearly 20 amino acids, 7 essential rich in nutrients: 10% protein, 60% carbohydrates, 9% fiber & full of fatty acids, phytonutrients, trace minerals & vitamins. Often used to balance the body’s systems increasing energy, strength, improve hormonal symptoms/sexual activity: libido, sexual function, fertility in both sexes, PMS or menopause & thyroid, raise or lower blood pressure pressure if needed, boosts immunity & improves mood & brain function. Maca is rich in calcium (higher levels than in milk), magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, sulfur & iron, & contains trace minerals, including zinc, iodine, copper, selenium, bismuth, manganese & silica, as well as vitamins B1, B2, C & E, is a rich source of sterols, including sitosterol, campestrol, ergosterol, brassicasterol, & ergostadienol. As a root crop, it contains 5x more protein than a potato & 4x times more fiber. Alkaloids: 4 novel alkaloids: macaina 1, 2, 3, 4. These are responsible for activating hormone regulators located in the brain that in turn regulate the metabolism of calcium & phosphorus in the blood. If it's a good quality, organic brand there shouldn't be anything unhealthy in it. Which brand/source did you get? |

It says in the back of David Wolfe's Superfoods book that maca has aluminum in it. I'm sure it's a trace amount and that it might not be an issue for most people, but if you're a "non-excreter" (which I think I am), even a little bit could matter. I really want to take it and that's why I still have the bag. Not yet sure what to do, though. | |
