Hi, Well, I've decided to go raw vegan after reading what Steve's been saying and looking at other things on the web, but, err, I'm not sure what to eat. I think I'll go with what this web page says: How to live on an all-raw vegetarian diet healthfully - by Dr. Stanley Bass , but I'm not sure if there is anything else that a 14 year old might need that an adult doesn't... I was wondering if any of you could help. Thanks, INH |

um, the edit button's gone, or I can't find it... :\ I wanted to add that I read that going raw makes you lose weight, and that I'm around 8kg below what I should be... Would I stay at the same amount of weight, or would it go even lower? Maybe I should go temporarily overweight then go raw? I don't actually look underweight for my age though... at least I don't think I do. Edit: ooh... the edit button dissapears after some time |

I am very doubtful that you can get enough quality protein and other essential nutrients from that diet, especially for someone still growing. I'm not a doctor, but 8 kg. sounds vastly underweight. I think you should consider steadily gaining some weight with a healthy non-vegan diet for a while before plunging into such a restrictive diet. Also, I think the smartest thing you could do is consult with a doctor, nutritionist, or some health expert in person in addition to using internet resources for inspiration. At your age especially, you really don't want to risk malnutrition. |

Well, after reading what you said, I asked my mother whether my doctor said I was underweight, and she said I wasn't... I was basing myself on the fact that my father told me that you had to weigh the amount of centimeters you have over the meter, and just mesured myself and am 1m53cm, and weigh 46kg... though according to another internet resource :\ an online calc... I'm fine... I AM going to ask my doctor though.
