Default Heart Burn and Cough (POP TARTS?!?)

I have a chronic dry cough that comes every now and then and I suffer from acid reflu. I've read in a couple sources that the cough can be related to acid reflux which would make a lot of sense, but there isn't much information out there. And I wasn't able to find any way of curing the cough.

I have found lots of information on curing acid reflu. For me tums make things worse and other medicines don't do anything. So I tried more natural methods. Probably the most helpful stuff :

-Eat smaller meals
-Chew well
-Eat slower
-Drink lots of water

So first of all, I'd like to know if anyone knows much about the cough related to acid reflu. Then I'd also like to know any other ways of curing acid reflux.

The weird thind is that both the cough and the acid reflux started getting real bad a couple days ago. It seems that what triggered it was eating a lot of pop tarts?!! I realized about a month ago that pop tarts always make me kind of sick. Could there be an ingredient in the pop tarts that trigger the cough/ heartburn? Haha just wondering.

I'm not very familiar with the ingredients of pop-tarts (although many here will advise against them), but certain foods can trigger heartburn and acid reflux, coffee being one of my personal triggers. Pop-tarts may be a trigger. Look at any high-acid foods you eat. The ideas you came up with are very good.

I just googled 'pop-tarts heartburn'. Apparently, you aren't the only one talking about this.

It's not a specific ingredient in the pop tarts. It's all of them. The problem is that pop tarts are a poorly combined food. If you're willing to call it food to begin with. The easiest solution for you would be to get a book on food combining and follow the advice there.

There is a bit of a disagreement on some of the rules (usually depending on type of overall diet), but even the basic understanding of the principles will allow you to experiment for yourself and figure out what works for your body.

P.S.
Drinking lots of water with food dilutes the acid in your stomach. It probably helps with acid reflux, but it's extremely bad for your digestion. I would highly recommend you think twice about continuing that practice.
