Default Farmer's market diet!

Someone please try this and write a book about it!

It is wonderful-
buy only fruits and vegs,
some clean grains,
some eggs, etc

from a farmer's market for a month or so.

Clean foods, close to nature,
it is wonderful!!

Hi,
All fruits and veggies are close to nature, unless they are artificially altered. A mango from Mexico is clean as well, especially if they cultivated it without harsh chemicals. Thus I often, 90% of the time, opt for organic rather than local. Local farmers use way too many fertilizers and pesticides in my region. Too bad... I would love to buy their produce. Once I asked a farmer at the market why don't they care about organic standards?... his answer was arrogant:"Try growing anything green without pesticides and see how much you get before the bugs get it." I left it at that.
Even the honey that they sell at the farmer's market is tainted by giving regular doses of antibiotics to bees...
This world is so crooked...

Im sorry that seems to be your experience, but most farmers that I know are straight forward and honest about what they do. Yes it is true that there are those that do used a lot of chemicals... but not all of us. Just ask.

I have a book called the Perricone Prescription- its not here with me so I dont know how to spell the name, but he does go into the fresher the better- something about live cells are better for your cells. Since then I always pick up those veges and fruit in side of road stalls- lucky we have a few close by. He has a few books I thinka general one, one especially on skin foods and one especially on weight loss. I got this one from my sister a few other women from around the extended family also turned out to have a book of his too.

I'd have to agree that many local farmers probably can't afford to grow their products completely naturally. It takes a bit more work to keep produce pest free without pesticides. With the limited income that farming provides in our relatively unstable economy, I can't really blame them for doing what it takes to make ends meet.

If I want "natural" foods, then I definitely would skip the farmer's market and head to the local natural food store. The only reason to shop at the farmer's market is for the atmosphere and to help your local economy imo.

There is also the environmental impact of not having your food shipped halfway around the world to consider.

And it's cheaper!!

I wasn't expecting it to be, but it actually is. Must be from not having to pay for all that packaging and petrol :P

Sadly they only come to my town once a month

Most importantly,

unless you garden all your own food,

the farmer's market is the straightest path from the sun to your body.

The only thing the grocery store has that the market doesnt, is stuff that your body doesn't need. Anything from the factory, anything artificial or chemical, and stuff that sits on shelves for months.

Go enjoy all the real live food from your local farms!
