I'm kinda confused about that alkaline chart. So if there is a negative in front of the number, thats good? Cuz according to that,ALL dairy products are bad then. And i dont get how tomatoes is negative when everyone knows that tomatoes are acidic. And how are oranges alkaline?! They have more acid than anything! Unless im reading this chart backwards.

The Vitamin D/sunlight one was interesting. I never had a problem getting sun though,i had MANY sunburns in my life LOL

And i'm pretty sure i need more carbs than most people cuz some days i feel ravenous and weak,if i havent eaten a large meal, preferrably including pasta LOL

This was very helpful though,i'm gonna make sure i follow those 5 tips. Thanks for that link!

John Berardi - Covering Nutritional Bases for more information about acidity and alkalinity. That should help you answer your question

Thanks for this,i saved this site to my favorites also. I just cant beleive that whole grains and high protein foods are acidic, that is just nuts! How can certain foods be recommended in almost every single diet plan out there, yet they are bad for you at the same time? This is why i get frustrated sometimes and i just don't know what to eat. Like i said, someday they'll probably come out with a study saying vegetables aren't as good for us as we thought!

If we have to believe every study out there, there aren't any healthy foods left. Thing is, with most foods the healthy stuff in it (far) outweighs the unhealthy stuff. It's a balancing act.

Here are some ways to get rid of belly fat - note that #1&2 are especially important for those who have tried almost everything else with no success...

1. Get checked or begin a cleanse for parasites. These nasties can end up in your gut from lots of places - kids and pets are especially active carriers. Once in your system, they completely throw off your digestion causing untold issues of gas, bloating and excessive fat build-up.

2. Yeast - candida is a culprit in many of our bellies, some is natural while an overgrowth can quickly take over and render the intestines virtually dysfunctional resulting in same symptoms as #1. There are various cleanse methods on the market - take them slow at first, but most of all watch your intake of sugar (ex. pop, sweet cereals, etc...) and yeasty foods.

3. At least 45-minutes, 3X a week of aerobics exercise such as jogging, swimming, cycling...

You should see a big difference if you implement these 3 tips.

Interesting.. I have heard lots lately about 1 and 2 tho i never heard of it relate specifically to belly fat. Do you have any references or opinions as to what detox or whatever helps get ride of yeast and parasites?
Or anyone else have anything they have tried for this? Has it helped with belly fat or fat in general?

Localized fat burning isn't completely mythological. According to statistics women in the 50s had lower waist measurements compared to their weight and height than today's women. I wish I could find the statistics. The study concluded that this had to do with the high levels of sugar in today's society. Furthermore, a concave belly is caused by low levels of cortisol, good diet, an active lifestyle, a correct balance of hormones (which you can influence slightly), and genes (definitely out of your control). A low (0.6 is ideal) waist-hip ratio is connected to good health, and is seen as a sign of attractiveness by all cultures. It leads to higher levels of fertility, and protection against cancer; diabetes and cardiac diseases.

That is to say, a healthy body has an hourglass figure, and factors such as as exercise, low stress levels, high protein intake and low sugar intake will contribute positively towards it.

Within reasonable limits. Everyone has their body type determined by genes. But belly fat is in so many ways influenced and connected to our health, that I'd have to say it can be targeted. If this were about the harmless thigh fat I might agree with SmellyOrc and say that it was completely out of our control.

Ick this one grosses me out LOL I think i'd lose it if i found out i had parasites. But is it possible to live with one inside you for 25 years and not know it? Actually might even be longer than that,i had a pot belly even as a kid.

Can you recommend any tried and true safe ones? I've always been kinda afraid to try any cleansing products. I do eat a lot of pasta but i havent drank pop in about 10 years and i dont eat cereal hardly ever, but this sounds like good place to start,i'll do anything before going to the doctor and finding out i have a tapeworm or some crap LOL

But those 2 websites (Figure Athlete and the John Berardi one) both said that high protein foods are acidic so we should avoid them. This is what i mean by contradicting answers, now i dont know what to do LOL

Well you've got a good point, but I think that one can have a balanced high-protein diet without the body becoming acidic. After all, a neutral body is the norm. Maybe an Atkins diet could induce acidic levels, but an Atkins diet is extreme. You could buy lithmus paper and periodically measure the acidity of your urine.

Alright i finally got the book, read most of it pretty much (except all the recipes)...i really truly think this will work on getting rid of belly fat. If anybody has any questions, now that i have the book i can answer them. I can't start the diet yet though cuz you have to go major grocery shopping for tons of stuff and i have to wait til i eat up all my old food cuz most of it i cant eat anymore once i start this. But i'm excited,it sounds like it will be so easy to maintain. So if anybody has any questions about it,i'm able to answer them now!
