Default A theory about staying healthy...

One thing I've noticed in my life is that everything changes. Something they thought was healthy today won't be healthy tomorrow. I have a theory that relates life to working out. Always change it up. It's like everything in moderation, except nothing regularly for long. Why? Because, your body can clean itself of toxins if you give it time. If you're switching things up every once in a while, you won't get the build up of any one thing and, maybe, your body will be able to clean whatever it was out. That's not just with food. That's with deodorant, sunscreen, lotion, etc... If you do this moderately, without drastic and over the top methods, you'll probably live a lot longer. That's my guess anyway. Even people who stick to a specific diet that's supposed to be healthy get sick sometimes because they find out too late they were missing something "bad" that their bodies actually needed a little of. I know this is all vague, but, this is really a crazy off the top of my head theory. I thought of it because of exercise. Most people hit plateaus because they don't realize they need to switch up their routine all the time. The more you switch it up (generally) the quicker and better the improvement.

Eating a variety of food is always a good idea. But I think it's also important to put your best effort into finding out what is good and bad. I know the constantly changing advice can be very annoying but don't be tempted to use that as an excuse to eat whatever you want.

Sounds like common sense to me.

You can do exercises at odd moments. Try to go on foot instead of using car when it is possible. Different sport games are not only useful for health but very pleasant and absorbing. Be active and you'll be healthy.

I think variety is good, but changing your workout plan every day is also bad. You need a certain level of consistency to achieve gains. If you change too frequently, you won't even start to adapt because your body will be too stressed out from the new patterns.

In working out physically, I think 3-6 weeks is a great time unit for one plan. You can mix it up a little every 3-6 weeks to keep the body guessing, but don't try to invent new workouts every time you work out.

Dannyboy I can definitely agree with you in terms of changing up the workout routine, not of course every few days but change your program every few weeks. This way the body does plateau and then gets shocked to stimulate new muscle growth, etc.

However I strongly disagree with the idea of changing up everything else like food and personal care products. The 2 and the above 3rd point from a medical standpoint all have to be addressed separately.

In terms of food I have heard many times before the statement you give "Something good today will be bad tomorrow, etc...:
Let us look at the facts seriously apples were good for us, are good for us and always will be good for us - that is not going to change and the truth is that same idea goes for all fruits and vegetables. What changes is the proccesed food, supplements and various ingredients.
But the biggest problem is the media and who makes, markets and pays for a study. I understand that one day they say choose butter over margarine and the next day vice versa but the truth is neither is good for you.

So what I am trying to say is that if we listen less to the media and more to nature and eat wholesome, natural and balanced food we will never go wrong.

In terms of personal care products - your theory has a point however for chemicals in personal care products to truly get cleansed our and not affect us, to some of them our bodies have to evolve and that takes generations. So would I be banking on changing one bad lotion or sunscreen for another - no. Especially that some products are fat soluble and will not get cleaned out of your system that easily if ever and the whole time while they sit there they can be causing mutations to your DNA.

So on this not my advice is to choose high quality - truly natural like products without all the chemical junk in them. Skin Deep web site from EWG is a good place to start to get to know your products.

Hi Danny

I think that you are correct. I know that lots of corporate companies advertise in ways to suggest that the body is full of poisons and the only way to get rid of those poisons are to buy books / diet plans / products. When you have a limited variety the body goes out of balance.
