| benefits of coffee - Google Search Information on Coffee with disease prevention benefits at MedicineNet.com Coffee: The New Health Food? "Want a drug that could lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and colon cancer? That could lift your mood and treat headaches? That could lower your risk of cavities? If it sounds too good to be true, think again." -- Just STAY away from non-Organic. Be mindful if you're using Tap water. (And technically coffee's not a "drug". Its derived from a bean. Last I checked beans are classified as a food.) |

| Lol. You can find as much negatives about coffee as positives. I prefer to see information that shows both sides. Here's one I liked: Is Coffee Good or Bad For You? The Pros & Cons of Coffee Drinking |

Seems the pros outweigh the cons. (Also most of the cons were because of drinking in excess. Which of course is true for everything.) |

In this day and age, can we trust "studies" is the question. |

| Another way to find out is the try it for yourself. Try a one month trial drinking 2 or 3 cups a day, everyday and see how you feel. You'd probably want to try without much sugar or cream. Then try one month with nothing. Nada. See how the body responds. |

| I seem to do best in life when I'm staying active and not drinking coffee. However, due to my seeming inability to do the former, I often settle for the coffee. It helps keep my emotional energy flowing when everything else is dragging me down. Ideally, I would not need it. 'Health benefits' aren't as relevant for the people who drink coffee and realize it causes insomnia, irritability, or whatever else for them. It's best to drink or avoid coffee on the basis of its more obvious effects. |

The results indicate that coffee drinking seems to increase the risk of antihypertensive drug treatment, and this risk was higher in subjects with low-to-moderate coffee intakes; Coffee consumption and the incidence of antihypert...[Am J Clin Nutr. 2007] - PubMed Result But all these research is really not so important imo. For example: my risk of Parkinson's is now 0,6% statistically. If I drink coffee it may be 0,4%. I don't really care about that. The things that coffee does to my state of mind are much more important imo. However these effects are not quantifiable in scientific research (yet). Here's a brief info on it. The production of foods in the last 20 years or so has turned towards using synthetic pesticides and synthethic additives in order to increase production and shelf life. Believe it or not some of these chemicals added are actually Benzoate derivative, which is ultimately (Benzine) Petroleum derivative. Ingesting synthetic chemicals, obviously is detrimental to the body. The argrument goes from the Chemical industry that the amounts are so small, it has no effect. But of course they're arguing from a Profit/loss business standpoint. Organic foods have developed to counter this dangerous practice. It seems this is mainly centered in the U.S. In other countries, the term "organic" does not even exist, because they don't engage in this practice. (This is why Americans are obese. The body cannot break down the chemicals and they stay in the body.) Once you switch ALL your food intake, to foods without chemicals added, you will never be able to eat processed food ever again. It'll always have a chemical aftertaste. I drink 100% organic coffee with distilled water (our local water supply is filled with dangerous chemicals also) and feel great. No jitters, etc. Last edited by infinitethoughts : 06-24-2008 at 05:07 PM. |

| hmm...does Starbucks make organic coffee yet? I prefer starbucks and Seattles Best, but I don't know if I've ever seen either one of them carry organic coffee. I always felt that coffee was great for me (I've been convinced for years that it's been a great immunity booster before I ever read anything about anti-oxidants). |
