Default Gluten, grains, rice

Is the gluten that's present in wheat and some other grains,
that is ideally avoided,
also present in 'glutinous' rice in any form?

Gluten is a technically a combination of a couple of proteins. A small amount of people are allergic/can't digest them (similar to milk proteins) and thus have to follow a gluten-free diet.
Gluten is non-essential but is a primary source of protein to many people around the world and used a lot in vegetarian cuisine. Personally I think there are better reasons not to eat grains than gluten.

I think about 30% of the population is gluten-sensitive, and most gluten intolerance is undiagnosed. That's bad.

Anyway, I didn't know there was "glutinous" rice. I thought all rice was gluten-free.

You can find many of those reasons by reading websites advocating raw-food diets. Here is one example. foodnsport.com - Don't you have to cook grains in order to get their nutritional benefit?

nm, I see that no, glutinous rice does not contain gluten.

Thanks!
