Stay away from fruit juices and soda, both are high in sugar. Don’t get caught in the ‘Low fat!’ deals as they usually have lots of artificial sugars and other additives. Never buy those prepackaged meals obviously. Workout at least three times a week, this not only helps you maintain your weight it makes you feel better about yourself, reduces stress and gives you a lot more energy.

I LOVE the advice in this thread - oh it feels wonderful to be surrounded by like minded health individuals Anyway, here is my list of advice: 1. Avoid all processed food 2. Avoid all meat(flesh) and as much dairy as possible 3. Avoid artificial sweeteners (you will have no problem with this if you do #1) 4. Avoid alcohol, smoking and drugs (those are not going to get you to your true higher state/potential) 5. Avoid coffee 6. Eat lots of fruits and veggies 7. Eat lots of legumes 8. Eat a variety of ancient grains 9. Drink water each day 10. Mediate and/or do some deep breathing each day 11. Excercise regularly 12. Sleep at least 8 hours each night 13. Use natural personal products only 14. Laugh and smile regularly 15. Continue to educate yourself on all of the above I probably missed some, but that is my list for starters |

Don't shop while hungry. Make sure you always have food in the house. Have NO unhealthy food in the house. For me, personally, if I have food in the house, I'll pretty much always eat that instead of going out to get something. So by making sure I always have food in the house and it's all healthy, I completely avoid the temptation to eat junk the vast majority of the time. I'll sometimes be tempted while I'm out or at someone's house, and I'll sometimes succumb to that temptation, but because this only happens occaisonally, overall I still eat very heathily. Obviously, this requires some willpower when shopping. Making sure you're not hungry when you shop helps with this. More importantly, though, if you shop once a week, say, you just need willpower for that one hour, and then eating healthily just follows naturally for the rest of the week. It should probably be noted here that I work from home, so eat the vast majority of my meals at home. Other strategies may be needed to eat healthily at work. |

Make it easy to be healthy: Have fresh food in the house at all times. Keep some exercise equipment in the house, or join a gym within walking distance. Have a goal to work towards, like a race, vacation, or other event you need to train for. Go veggie if it interests you. It's better for you and the planet.

Personally this is what I do to be healthy at the moment: Apples and mandarins are my sugar craving curbers. Cook freshest veges I can get my hands on for dinner with a small portion of fish/chicken/red meat Drink water all the time. I keep a jug and glass by my bed for night and morning and one at work also with lemon slices. Avoid all take outs- after a while of not eating them you realise how oily and disgusting they really do taste. Smile and think and talk positive(even when I feel like I am having a bed day I smile and it only ever gets better). |
